honestly, who used to think he was crappy?
I used to loathe his work, but now he is cranking out some fantastic performances in some great projects.

shareBetween "How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days" (2003) and "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" (2009), his work was pretty dreadful. During which time he made about seven bad movie. His work before then was good, and now...well, there's no-one better!
I'm talking Jackson, Mississippi!
I didn't see DBC, but i got sold on True Detective, Mud, & WoWS. I didn't care for Interstellar simply because i couldn't invest at all with that movie.

I didn't necessarily have a bad opinion of his acting, but his persona and his drawl, which so many seem to find sexy, just irritated me. However, I thought he was excellent in DBC, and his performance in True Detective has turned me into a true fan.
On second thought, let us not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.
Honestly, as a non-native speaker who was only introduced to Hollywood in the 2000s? I thought he was handsome but bland in all of those romcoms he did at the time, and funny but bland in Tropic Thunder. Someone gifted me a DVD of The Lincoln Lawyer but I never saw it, because that's how bland I thought he was. And then I saw DBC, True Detective, and Interstellar in quick succession, and I am such a big fan that if someone told me he was God, I would hop right on that religious bandwagon. I hear his movies in the '90s were excellent as well. Should put them on my list for a lazy weekend.

You write well for a non - native speaker. I guess you've seen Lincoln Lawyer. It's one of my faves. I liked Mud, Killer Joe, Contact and A Time to Kill. Ones I haven't seen that are supposed to be good are Bernie, PaperBoy and his small role in Wolf of Wall Street.
shareHaha, thanks. I haven't seen any of those movies. Not even The Lincoln Lawyer. That one, Mud, Bernie, and Killer Joe are top of my list for now. But I'll look into the others you mentioned as well.

Make sure to check "Frailty" and "13 Conversations About One Thing" as well - two of his most underrated films. My favorite performance is still "A Time to Kill" though.
