Favorite Performance (Besides Hannibal Lecter)?
For me, it's Frederick Treves from The Elephant Man.

Elephant man, Howards End, Remains of the day, the father, also really liked him in the Edge
Magic.
He plays a ventriloquist who is tormented by his dummy, which has a mind of it's own. Only a master like Hopkins could keep some of the scenes in the movie from turning into unintentional comedy. I think he pulled it off!
Hopkins is great.
You can make a contention he is the best of all time.
One could whip off several great performances. I'll cut it to my 3 faves....
1. Dr. Frederick Treves "The Elephant Man"
2. RIchard Nixon "Nixon"
My 3rd pick is out of the box. It was an early 80s television (CBS if one recalls) retelling of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". He plays Quasimodo. He's outstanding.
Which incidentally, brings up another TV performance - his work as Adolf Hitler in "The Bunker".
The guy is great, you can keep going and going with fantastic performances......
