He's never been great in a movie.
He's completely average in everything I've seen him in.
shareHe's got nowhere else to go!
shareOfficer and a Gentlemen was pretty good. I’m not a fan at all but I like him in that.
shareHe's pretty much okay in most films but I recently saw him in a film called Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer.
I'm really not sure why he was so good in this but the film seemed to fit his acting style perfectly. He plays a small-time fixer who befriends a young politician at a low point in his life. Three years later, when the politician becomes an influential world leader, Norman's life dramatically changes for better and worse.
There's plenty of political intrigue thrown in the mix and Norman is put to task in an attempt to solve problems for his political partners. The film has rave reviews on Gere's performance in the Amazon user review section. Even rottentomatoes review on the main page for this film commented on Gere's performance calling it a "quietly powerful performance from Richard Gere". Others comment on it too... https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/norman_2017/reviews?intcmp=rt-what-to-know_read-critics-reviews
It's interesting when you hear this about an actor from a few critics but when it gets into the dozen or more commenting on it, it's a trend.
Anyhow, I think it's a great film and very underrated. If you like Gere at all, check it out.
I've never heard of this film. I find him okay in Chicago and American History X, but he's been average in anything else. He's never been bad though, just average.
shareAgreed, he's been average to pretty good in most of the stuff I've seen him in. But he was very good in Norman. I think it's worth watching if you like political thrillers, it's kind of like a Woody Allen film but with a political twist. I really liked it a lot.
Here's the MC page for it. https://moviechat.org/tt4191702/Norman-The-Moderate-Rise-and-Tragic-Fall-of-a-New-York-Fixer
