If you listen to Leah Remini about Scientology how can you pay money to this guy?

Last night I got hooked into a You-Tube hole and ended up watching all kinds of weird videos. One of them was Leah Remini talking to Joe Rogan about Scientology and the subject of Cruise and Travolta came up.

Remini was talking about how they treat the Scientology novitiates like dirt and abuse them. They are to serve and behave like robots. They were talking about how there is a code in Scientology that if something reaches a certain status a "lesser Scientologist" must do whatever is necessary to protect them.

The specific example was that if Tom Cruise murdered someone, and there were Scientologists around, he could just walk away and leave the room and the cleaning up of the body and evidence to others and the close ranks and protect each other.

That seemed more than a little chilling, and there is the NXVIUM or whatever it is cult that was busted and the leader was supposed to be sentenced this money actually.

This is sure a bad reflection on human beings. How can some people be so gutless and evil? Anyway ... I admit, I think Cruise is a good actor. I enjoyed some of his movies, "Collateral", "Live, Die Repeat", and most of them are at least watchable, but after hearing this kind of stuff about Scientology it just creeps me out and I think the whole organization should be busted and all of them put in prison or mental health facilities.

His life is so extraordinary, living as a Hollywood movie star with everyone kissing his ass every two seconds, that I don't begrudge him for believing in something that keeps his head together.

Its a cult that legit does harm to people, any benefit Tom Cruise gets, is at the expense of others

No excuses for that
If his job makes him require that sort of stuff, he needs to leave his job aka Hollywood, just like any other human would do. He has no more or less rights than any other human.

And if he needs something to keep himself together, there are plenty self help books or he can seek God and Jesus

Putting the above to the side,
In France the government recognizes it as a cult, same with various world governments.

Based on what I know about Scientology and cults and how they work, by most definitions they are a cult

If you want to take your morals from governments, which is based on the common law system that's cool, to take the principled approach with what you're saying.
Unless you don't know much if at all about Scientology and its just an oversight on your part

Fledgling religions are in constant danger of being labeled a 'cult'.

A proactive approach to people critical of it is needed to survive.

If they did nothing, it would not.

He is not a murderer but we should treat him as if he is?
I like his films and I don't really care about his personal or religious beliefs. Unless he converts to Islam.

When I’m in LA I often walk or bike past the Celebrity Center and the other Scientology place on Hollywood Blvd. The underlings all wear white button downs and black slacks. They are always very polite and cheerful and if I’m walking my dogs some of them will stop to pet them.

I’m not condoning their practices; they seem creepy AF. But the people I see around those places seem pretty happy to me.

That is the thing ... go to You-Tube and listen to the interview between Joe Rogan and Leah Remini. She talks about how they force these people to smile and not react to anything. They cannot complain, react, criticize or even refuse an order from someone of higher rank. SEEM ... that's the operative word.

Maybe there is some kind of justification, or rather "rationalization" for this, but it just seems creepy to me.

Huh. I’m sure there’s a supposed reason. Maybe seeing happy innocent dogs is a nice break from the brainwashing.

It’s telling that they wear those uniforms. They’re supposed to lose their individuality I guess.

Something else I’ve noticed is that they are all white.

Lemme get this straight - you heard her talk about how it 'could' happen based on her opinion, but you're talking about it like it's a fact. You're making a judgment call about a famous actor who nobody talks about and calling out about a fanbase because some has-been actress is tossing out a ridiculous theoretical that he could murder someone and they would cover for him?

That's like condemning the entire Catholic religion because some people are blowing up abortion clinics or burning down mosques because of 9/11. I don't give a fig about Scientology but to say we shouldn't see a movie because Tom believes in some weird religion is ridiculous.

Quite. And I cant say I have ever heard him talk about scientology publicly, endorse it or promote it.

Though I believe he may have mentioned it in a couple of interviews in the past.

So how does this affect enjoyment of his movies?

There are millions of actors out there who may hold many different types of belief. I have no time for any religion, but my opinion on an actors belief or faith does not affect my enjoyment of them.

They are free to believe what they want.

Tom Cruise does not proselytize scientology AFAIK. It doesn't appear to come out in his acting, or his productions. I'll judge Cruise by what he does in my eyes, not what Leah Remini says he might do.

Go go Tom Cruise, keep being you. I love your movies, always have.

If I stopped seeing movies because of the idiotic crap actors believe and spout in public, be it Scientology, leftism, climate hysteria, etc., etc., I'd never get to see another movie again. It's best to avoid knowing anything about actors off-camera.
