Better now?
Anyone prefer her now compared to when she was younger? What do you think?
shareI haven’t seen anything with Jennifer Connelly in it recently but I loved her in Phenomena (1985).
shareIn terms of looks she was way hotter then she is now. She's lost far too much weight. For a while there she would have been up there as one of the most beautiful actresses around.
In terms of her acting, she had a good acting career as a young actress. some great films in there, Once Upon a Time in America is probably the best film she's been in. Not bad for a debut film is it. Phenomena is campy fun. Labyrinth is a children's classic and is probably one of her most famous films. The Hot Spot is the film where she went from child actress to been a adult, her first nude scene and she was only 19. That definitely moved her on from been known as a child actress.
After for a while in the 90's she got stuck with the girlfriend roles in many films, I loved The Rocketeer and Connelly was at her hottest in that. Higher Learning is a guilty pleasure. The late 90's got a little better for her, she's very good in a small role in Inventing The Abbots, Dark City is one of the cult films of the 90's.
Then the early 00's hit, Connelly went from sex siren into a serious Actress. Requiem of a Dream changed her career overnight. Then followed Pollack, then her Oscar winning role in A Beautiful Mind. Great performances in Little Children (2006) Reservation Road (2007) and House of Sand And Fog (2003) followed. She was wasted in Blockbusters. After around 2007, her career hasn't been up the same standards of her early 00's to mind 00's peak.
I think she was a good solid child actress, easily slipped away into Adult roles and became a sex symbol form the late 80's until late 90's but was typecast in girlfriend roles. Reinvented herself as a serious award winning actress for a good 7 years in the early 00's. Slipped into pay cheque Jobs since then and is moving into TV roles.
She's had a very good career for a while she was a top notch actress.
Great post, thank you.
