He supports “cancel culture”.

So disappointed to hear, and I couldn’t disagree with him more. Everyone has a line they don’t like crossed, but if you get offended at jokes, that should be your own problem. Still respect this man immensely, but I disagree with him on this 100%. Censoring and banning things people can say, and handcuffing comedians will never be the answer. Such a pathetic time we are living in. Boo hoo, you can’t take a joke.

The problem with this way of thinking is once you start to put limitations on what you can and can't say, where do you put the limit? what is allowed? and who makes those decisions and under what criteria? can you make fun of something a gay person says or did or does the fact this person is gay makes him untouchable? if you cant make fun of the action of this person, can you make fun of the same action if was a straight white person? if it that so, why?

People do ridiculous shit, every group has traditions that are ridiculous or funny to someone else, can't we make fun of a muslin person, and the way some Muslim countries treats woman? if your answer is not, would you think the same way about the cases of pedophilia in the catholic church? can we make fun of them?

Can we make fun of the accent of some black people? can we make fun of the accent of southern whitetrash?

Must form of comedy is going to be hurtful or offensive to someone if you censored something base on someone else feeling, you have to take into consideration everybody feelings, and ban anything that is offensive to anyone, you can't have double standards and that is open the door to absolute censorship not to a more civilized and respectful society, but I know that is way too complicated for some morons here

reply

Exactly!!! Very well stated!

reply

Sure, you can't fix society by regulating language, the only idea is moronic beyond belief.

reply

Don’t tell some of these people. You’ll hurt their feelings and they’ll try to have you banned, because along with being the thought police, they’ve also become the “offensive language” police. 🤣

reply

Look at all the white people who'd love to cancel history class, science or anything bad about Trump being triggered by "cancel culture". You guys realize how ironic that is? Forget it, you have no idea what irony means.

reply

What the fuck does this have to do with Trump? It’s amazing how obsessed people are with him on here. He gets brought into everything. Dude hasn’t been President for almost a year, yet everyone who hates him brings him up every two seconds. Now THAT’S some good comedy right there.

I also think you need to look in the mirror when talking about irony.

“Look at all the white people”…see, racist as hell, but he’s free to say it, and I’m glad he’s allowed to be racist as hell, even though I disagree with him.

Cancel history and science class? 🤦🏻‍♂️ I just can’t anymore with people in 2021.

reply

Fyi, I am white myself, but I can guarantee that 98% of Aykroyd haters here are white as well. I only mentioned it, because the topic of slavery came into news recently, and all the white folks feel as if it's a horrible crime to accuse their great-grandpas of being bad people, when in reality that was a real possibility.

And even though Trump has not been president for 10 month, his disastrous impact on the nation will be felt for years. So criticizing him is an obligation, especially since so many people wanna forget that he tried to overthrow the government like a little dictator.

reply

I’m trying to find where I said I was an Aykroyd “hater”? 🤔

I said the exact opposite. I am just really disappointed by his comments.

You are white, yet you say “white folks” like you aren’t one of them. That’s funny. Are you going to start calling people “cracker” next?

So you’re also randomly accusing peoples’ great grandfathers of being bad people? Yeah, it was a possibility, and it’s also a possibility they weren’t either, but we’ll just go ahead and call them all racist just based on your “possibility” theory. 🤣

Can we call the black slave owners from back then bad people too? Or are we only generalizing white people today?

Trump is a dipshit. Biden is a dipshit. Fuck ‘em all. The American people lost when politicians became rock stars. I’m assuming you’re currently blaming all of the misery going on in the country right now on Trump, right? It couldn’t also have anything to do with your party…even a little bit, am I right?

reply

I am actually blaming a lot of the problems of the current US on former presidents as well. Reagan being one of the worst but Bush 1+2 weren't better either. Trump however takes the cake.

There is no comparison between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to middle class Americans. One party is controlled corporate interests, the other party at least tries to bet better than that. Democrats do not always succeed, but at least they try.

reply

I see…so Carter, Clinton, Obama, and Biden did (and are currently doing) everything perfectly then. 🤣

Yes, there is a very real comparison between them. None of them give a shit about you. They want power and your vote.

Must suck to be a sheep, but when you’re brainwashed like that, I guess you don’t even realize. Have a nice day.

reply

It would be funny, if it wasn't so sad: right wingers calling Democrats "sheep".

Tell me, when you say "None of them give a shit about you." Do you believe that accounts for Republicans as well?

reply

Yes.

reply

BeBestAtMovies said (re helping the middle class) : "Democrats do not always succeed, but at least they try."
sut6432's response: "I see…so Carter, Clinton, Obama, and Biden did (and are currently doing) everything perfectly then."

Whta part of "do not always succeed" and "try" equals BeBestAtMovies saying that the presidents you mentioned were perfect?

reply

What you’re describing actually isn’t irony. It would be hypocrisy. Which makes your last sentence ironic

reply

Yes, hypocrisy is used a lot when describing right wingers. In this instance, however, the lack of self awareness coming from outraged Aykroyd-haters is indeed quite ironic.

reply

Thank you Dan! Time to cancel every single Chump supporter!

reply

he did black face one time so he has to say this stuff. he's a legend.

reply

Aren't certain 'jokes' just a hall pass for bullies turned comedians? You can't bully in highschool (well, not suppose to but people still do) but you can bully as an adult?

reply

What do you expect? his Hollywood overlords demand it or he's damned..

reply

WARNING: RACIST JOKE AHEAD

"Buckwheat, please use 'dictate' in a sentence."

Now, I'm not black, so I don't get to decide what's really REALLY racist and what's "barely racist."

reply

Interesting given by current standards The Blues Brothers would probably be cancelled given it is about two white boys misappropriating (by SJW logic) black music and culture. I don't think that film could be made today unless you cast two black guys in the titular roles and that loses half the joke right there.
