Tom Hardy: the next brando

I know this is thrown around with a lot of different actors but I think has the potential to be regarded in the same league. His diversity and ability to portray his characters with incredible realism. He just needs the correct titular roles.

He has far more range than Hardy. He can make a great, believable android and then do a great, believable version of Steve Jobs in two years. That's awesome.

ok you make a solid point i have to agree with i think fassbender is more the movie star than hardy definitely .I think hardy is more natural and seamless in his delivery though than fassbender who is too technical you can see the gears turning behind it all .

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

No.

Well Hardy does tend to mumble a lot, so he has that going for him on the path to being the next Brando.

First off, Tom Hardy is a fantastic actor and he does have the raw realism and charisma of a Brando.

But Brando people forget reinvented the way a Actor is. No one was acting like him before he hit the scene, that's why he's still highly regarded. Sure he wasn't always perfect and took his gift for granted, but Brando is the Actor's Actor. Only prime De Niro, Pacino, Nicholson and Day Lewis have come close to matching him.

Hardy is a talent but he's not quite there.

Michael Fassbender has been noted on this thread.

I nominate James McAvoy and Jesse Eisenberg for consideration.

I don't see that at all. Hardy is a character actor at best. Brando was an all around, able to pull off anything.

Hard to imagine anyone making the kind of impact Brando once did. The Men, Streetcar, The Wild One, On the Waterfront were significant films and were the foundations for what followed. I can't think of a similarly striking list for any actors today. I think Tom Hardy is excellent but to be honest had to resort to IMDb to remind myself of his roles outside a few recent block busters.
