Cooked

Anyone else noticed how everything is cooked all of the sudden?

reply

I don't know what you mean and what that term means other than it's original meaning.

Signed, million man.

Over the last several months, the word cooked has gone viral. The meaning is exactly what you’d expect — it means it’s done, it’s ruined, it’s fucked, we’re in trouble, etc. While the term has existed for decades, it wasn’t widely used until around 2023, when the younger generation picked it up and started using it in their circles. In the last six months, it exploded into mainstream slang, and now everyone is saying it. I even heard Jimmy Dore use it today, which means it’s officially reached older Gen Xers — and the boomers won’t be far behind.
Anyway, now that I’ve drawn your attention to it, you’ll probably start noticing it everywhere. You’re welcome.

You'll never see me using it, like the stupid expression, "my bad."

reply

MY BAD...I'M JUST COOKED LATELY.🙂

reply

This is where we differ. I'm a die hard rebel, not a follower of the crowd.

reply

Agree with you on "my bad". Not to be racist, 🤣, but it's ignorant negro slang and makes no grammatical sense.

"Cooked" has been around forever. I think it predates Boomers. I'm sure everyone's heard the phrase "we're cooked".

reply

Two of my best friends from grade school up through high school were black. Blacks have their own, unique style of expression. I'm a boomer and I have a vague recollection that "cooked" might have come from "The Beat Generation." Maynard G. Krebs, was a beatnik and his catchphrase was, "Like wow, man!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlVcrsjHPbg 😁

reply

I've read that blacks create something like 90% of American slang. We whites need a source to help us escape our neat correct little box.

Yeah, love the Maynard character. Gilligan's best role! 🤣

reply

Lol. That's funny. I love that they're all smoking too. The good old days.

reply

We're not even close to being cooked and I have never heard anyone use it in the Gen X dept. I think Gen Z is simply negative in general and a bunch of Debby downers

reply

Jimmy Dore is the first Gen Xer I’ve heard use it, and even he prefaced it by saying something like, as the kids say.

reply

I thought it was slang for stoned, that’s how up to date I am with the lingo I suppose.

reply

Kiwi you old fart, you're out of the loop.

reply

I can’t argue with any of that

reply

IT IS NOW...I'M USING IT.....ALSO...I AM CURRENTLY FAIRLY COOKED, BRO🫠

reply

I’d expect nothing less sir.

Enjoy 💨

reply
