Have you ever seen a dead body ?

Up close, I mean.

I have. Once. My grandfather who passed away many years ago. He was at our home, and was bed ridden and nurses looked after him. They all called us in, as he was in his final moments, and once he passed, you could see there was just no life. His face had a yellowish tinge to it. And the funeral home took him away.

Was quite freaky to someone who had life, and suddenly lifeless.

Yeah, a friend collapsed dead after a drug and alcohol binge.

reply

That must have been awful!
Sorry you lost your friend.

Yes, I used to wheel dead bodies to the Morgue back in the 80's when I was a Transport Orderly at Barnes Hospital when it was called Barnes Hospital and in modern day, it's called BJC. In any event, I was working one night on the overnight shift and had a "Expiration" as the E.R Put it and this new employee, it was his 1st night and we had to go get this body and take it to the Morgue. We picked up the body, moved it to the stretcher and wheeled it down to the basement where the freezer is for the Coroner to come pick them up. While waiting for the freezer to be unlocked, a very rare occurrence happened: The body took it's last bit of breath causing the chest to rise under the sheet over the stretcher and the new employee saw this and immediately resigned on the spot!! No shit

I also saw my Mom shortly after she passed away in my sister's arms and her face was slightly contorted around her mouth when she passed, like it was very sudden and, well, that was it. Just like that. I miss her every day ❤

reply

It sounds like the person was still alive. Did you contact the doctors to double-check?

reply

Yes. I’ll leave it at that.

reply

I imagine anyone who has been to a funeral has.

Signed, million man

reply

Only at funeral homes.

Multiple times in funeral homes. I held my grandmother's hand as she passed from this life to the next. Everyone else just stood back at a distance like they were scared. I guess they were. I just felt like she needed to know someone was right there with her.

reply

That's beautiful.

I watched both of my parents die. Likewise, I held my mother's hand while she was in her death throes in a nursing home. A nurse present there said, "Talk to her...the hearing is the last thing to go." I did that for awhile. At some point, her hand relaxed and Spirit simultaneously told me, "She wants to let go." It was a profound experience.

reply

You gave your mother a great gift doing that.

reply

It seemed fitting. I was the oldest of four sons. She leaned on me a lot while I was growing up.

reply

It's comforting that you were with her in her last moments.

reply

It's nice to see you here again, Boromir.

reply

Thank you. The same.

reply

That’s very touching and heartbreaking and also very brave on your part db. If I ever lose my mother I might be reduced to Jello for a week.

reply

Thanks for sharing. That's beautiful.

If we are speaking outside of funerals yes. I had a college level biology class in high school and went on a field trip where we went to a local chiropractor college and saw real human cadavers.

reply

Too many

reply

I believe that!
