Which Celebrity death shocked (and affected) you the most????

There have been quite a few. But probably, because one was such a huge fan, plus hoping for a Beatles reunion....

John Lennon

reply

John Ritter.

reply

Yes, total shock.

If I remember correctly, he was doing a TV show when he suddenly became ill.

And, again if memory serves, he quickly passed. It was totally out of the blue as I recall.

Ritter was a good guy and did some good work.

Thanks for the reply

reply

Yeah, it was while he was doing his show. I rememeber it well because I stayed home from college for the day because I wasn't feeling well and was shocked about the news.

reply

Not because I was a big fan of the guy, but it felt weird when Jon Erik Hexum died. I just felt bad for him to die so young. I was 18 at the time and he was eight years older than me.

reply

Robin Williams.

reply

Yes, a big surprise.

The impression was he had conquered his demons and was doing fine. Plus he was working.

Little did we know he had serious problems other than drugs and booze.

Poor guy. A shocker for sure.

Thanks for the response.

reply

He had Lewy body dementia. He had zero chance of recovery.

reply

Right, exactly.

But as one recalls - this was not publicly disclosed.

I'm going from memory here so don't quote me, I believe he had fallen off the wagon about a decade before his death.

As far as I knew, it was a successful rehabilitation. And he continued to work (I remember a television show with Sarah Michelle Gellar).

There was no reason to think anything was wrong with him. Little did we know, as you say, he had LBD.

It may even be possible when he did what he did, he may not have fully realized what he was doing (suicide).

reply

That was certainly a shock!
Who knew??

reply

Chester Bennington. That guy should have lived to be an old man. He played a skinhead in Saw 7.

Signed, million man.

reply

I was surprised by: -
Prince
David Bowie
Tom Petty
Michael Jackson (although he might be still alive)

Since none of them were that old.

I was shocked by John Lennon because of how it happened.

reply

Yeah, really all 4 of them. Had no idea any of the 4 you listed on top would pass. I have to ask, are you serious when you say MJ may still be alive?

As far as Lennon, yes, duly shocking because of the way he passed.

reply

Knowing what a crazy fruit loop he was, I wouldn’t put it past him to have faked his own death.

Whilst I’m always saddened to hear about the passing of anyone who was famous when I was growing up, I would add to the list Meatloaf and Jim Steinman - what a huge creative gulf they left when they both passed fairly recently.

reply

Neil Armstrong

reply

When he died the immediate thought in my head was “How can the Man on the Moon die?”. Such an iconic figure of my childhood.

reply

Mozart. The greatest loss in the history of music.

reply

Lady Di

I was still a kid and the sheer media presence of it all made it suffocating.

reply

Yes, that was terrible. There was a huge amount of love for Lady Di here in the U.S. Her prettiness, her poised public image, her fashion and her humanitarian efforts made her the world’s darling.

Big loss. King Charles could have been a better husband.
