A song that makes you cry

Is there a song that makes you cry when you hear it, or at least makes you feel emotional, whether it ties you back to a memory or there's just something about the song that gets you?

Only a couple of songs have ever made me cry and this is one of them.

I'm not the emotional type. But this Eno song makes my eyes well up for some reason.

Very nice, and I like that it's an instrumental. It's rare that instrumentals show up in threads.

"Kokomo" by The Beach Boys. It's so excruciatingly bad that I cry wanting it to stop.

reply

I can't argue with you there. I do like the Beach Boys (what I know of them) but I don't like that song.

Don't know if these are repeats, but :

I knew the first one but not the second one. I know a lot of Elton John songs and have been to a couple of his concerts, but I'm not really an expert on his music. What a beautiful song and what a beautiful voice he has. Thanks for introducing that song to me.

reply

Maybe it's because the movie Elizabethtown but for me this is the saddest Elton John song:

What a beautiful song. I didn't know that one either. It seems to me that many of Elton John's most beautiful songs are ones that are deeper cuts. Or at least that's my perception.

First time I hear the song is in Elizabethtown.
I agree about what you said.

When I first heard this song I felt stunned. You go the whole range of emotions from happy to sad and then teary eyed happy by the end. At 8 minutes long it's a song that is so epic and grand to me that could be interpreted in multiple ways. It's that good.

It's always nice when you can find a song that affects you that way. I don't know this song but it does seem to have a drama to it (in a good way) that could draw somebody in.

THE SONG THAT HITS ME IN THE FEELS THE MOST ALSO HAPPENS TO BE MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE SONG.....

It's interesting, I was thinking not too long ago that I've always found Jackson Browne's music to be pleasant but there was never a song of his that I felt really strongly about. That changed today. Now I have a favorite Jackson Browne song. Thank you. ♥️

YOU ARE VERY WELCOME....I AM VERY HAPPY TO HEAR HOW MUCH YOU LIKED THE SONG.😘

Just thought of another one....

This was, very unfortunately, right after my dog passed.

I'd listen to it and cry my eyes out.....

Aww, JT, I'm so sorry. Losing a pet is heartbreaking.

This is either my favorite Chicago song or my second favorite one, but regardless I love it. It also has a special meaning to me although more in the area of romance. Nevertheless listening to it makes me nostalgic.

reply

Thank you so much. It surely was.

Hey that's great , you like it, too.

I love how the waves crash in as it opens - and then those wonderful harmonies. It's beautiful.

Sorry about the romance - but, hey, we still have our great song.

A couple of oldies:

Juice Newton - The Sweetest Thing

Bread -Aubrey

reply

Of those two I know the Juice Newton one, and I love it. I've always loved that song. I don't know Aubrey, but I love everything I do know by Bread. I'll have to give it a listen.

I know I'm answering very quickly but I didn't have to listen to it. As soon as I pulled it up I was like, oh my gosh, once again I have so much in common musically with tcrum. I've noticed that about us. I don't know if this song has ever made me cry but it is the absolute saddest song there ever was in my opinion. In fact I almost posted a thread one day called the saddest song ever and this would have been my entry.

Edit: I pulled it up and listened to it because I love this song. Yep, tears in the eyes and lots of sniffin' going on. A good song to pull up and think about something specific if you need a good cry.
