I found an antique Christmas decoration

https://imgur.com/a/1X5pbQE

This was found at a family home that wasn't touched or lived in for 40 years (aside from maintenance checks).

I have the ceramic lighted Christmas tree just like the one on the left in the photo. My parents had it and gave it to me years ago, but it's in a box somewhere. One of these days I'm going to find it.

I could have sworn it was made by my wife's grandma. It has a clunky signature at the bottom from 1978. It's not her name though. Dee W. 1978

I am almost certain that my parents made their tree, too. I remember them taking some ceramics classes and this was one of the projects.

I just came upon this. It mat be how they made it.

My grandparents had a ceramic lighted Christmas tree like the one in the picture that I loved so much, I bought one similar to it for my own home. Mine has touches of white paint on it to simulate snow, too.

I like it, but could have it until recently. Cats love knocking things over.

I think this is how they made it.

That looks like a lot of work! I think so many people in my generation and the one below own one now because we saw them in our grandparents' homes and they were a favorite decoration. ❤️

Link isn't working for me.

Long ago I did ceramics and made one of those trees except mine was white, several years ago it went to Goodwill.

Was it made with a mold? I posted a link above that shows one being made with one.

reply

Yes it was.

Thanks for confirming.
