Do pictures of planet Earth from space give you a sense of wonder?

For example, the Earthrise photo? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthrise

I get a sense of wonder when viewing Earth from space...y'know the whole "Earth is just one teeny tiny small part of the universe" feeling.

Wondrous is our great blue ship that sails around the mighty sun and joy to everyone that rides along.

Since we don't seem to have any Flat Earthers, I'll pinch hit.

The picture is fake and is designed to make you feel small and insignificant.

And something about an ice wall.

I heard theres a giant turtle underneath keeping it moving

reply

And Atlas is still holding the turtle.

On my phone with no mention of the poster and I knew this was you😄
You have a nice posting style that is both innocent and interesting. You seem like a really decent person.

Yes! I am in awe of this crazy wet rock and all that surrounds it out to infinity.

Thanks man!

Earthrise, taken on December 24, 1968, by Apollo 8 astronaut William Anders

Aw , bill didnt get to be in it,
Those days were pre selfie stick!

They are pretty cool , but i've stopped watching / listining to shows that have astronauts on as guest - they just bang on and on about how small we are / sense of perspective / how wonderous and amazing it is , etc , all the cliches.

When can in fact , as you say , just look at the pictures they took .
Or zoom way out on google earth.

I recall during my first trip to Hawaii I was outside at night and I said to my husband, "we really are out in the middle of nowhere," but that pales in comparison to earth's position in the universe. Nat Geo has a map of the universe that keeps expanding from one area to another - mind boggling to study.

reply

Yes, absolutely. I've been fascinated by space travel and the moon landings since I was a child in the early 80s.
