Has anyone heard from Skavau? I noticed he’s been gone for a week. For years, he’s been around here, always posting and replying almost instantly, especially on the Politics board. I’ve had plenty of heated debates with him there, where I like to throw out controversial topics and defend my views in the most extreme way I can. Skavau was someone I would often clash with in those intense discussions. I would often troll him and make fun of him, and said some nasty and brutal things to him during our exchanges. But despite that, I do care about whether he’s okay. So, now that I’m off the Politics board and out of ‘villain’ mode, I just wanted to check in. Has anyone heard from him? Was he banned, or is something else going on?

Yeah, I took a break for a couple of days and came back to 14 notifications. It felt like a chore to go through them all, so I kept procrastinating, and days turned into two weeks. But it was a good break. I got a chance to decompress.

No, absolutely not. In fact, when I went through them last night, I didn’t see any posts from you at all. You knew I’d be gone for a couple of days, but others didn’t, so they responded to posts I had made before my break. At some point, I refreshed the MovieChat tab in my browser and saw I had 14 notifications — which had grown to 26 after two weeks.

Because of my OCD, I struggle with just reading a few and responding selectively — I feel compelled to go through all of them and reply to most. In that sense, I’m like Noam Chomsky; I respond to everything. But knowing it would take a couple of hours to get through them all, I kept putting it off. I spend a lot of time on this site, and once again, thanks to my OCD, when I’m here, I feel the need to check notifications throughout the day and reply. So, taking a break from that for a little while was actually nice.

That's a lot of notifications. It doesn't surprise me though with how much your posts enrich the politics board.

I could definitely see that adding to the pressure. Replying to the 2-3 I typically have when logging on seems like a lot to deal with, but with the number you're talking about, I'd probably not respond to any. You're a better man than I am, CM.

Yes, I’m aware he’s on Reddit. It’s been three months since I made this post, and at the time, it was odd for Skavau to be absent for a week. But it seems he’s moved on and does his thing on Reddit now. I’d join in, but I’m not particularly fond of the platform. Hopefully, Skavau will return here one day, and we’ll have ourselves a debate like we used to back in the day.

Anyway, send him my regards and let him know he’s missed.

Nah, he was just autistic. But he did come across like a bot, always running the same script.
