reply

Heh, had Two-Lane Blacktop on my list and caught it at the last second. Have seen and liked about half of yours and am investigating the other half. Other horror contenders you've probably seen:

The Blood on Satan's Claw, Let's Scare Jessica to Death, Don't Deliver Us from Evil...

reply

I have not seen Don’t Deliver Us From Evil and am adding it to my watchlist. Looks right up my alley.

reply

I never was a fan of Clockwork Orange, but yeah some of those are great flicks.

reply

It’s funny how little The Hunting Party is talked about. Great film and it’s definitely in my top 20 westerns.

reply

I don’t see how we can talk about 71 and not mention Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

reply

I agree!

reply

1975 and 1976 were better years

reply

1972 is one of my favorites. Do another post for your favorite year and I’ll add some.

reply

Eh 1972 had The Godfather but other than that I can’t think of much. To me the strongest years were 1975, 1976, 1984, 1994, 1995 and 1997

reply

Deliverance, The Getaway, Joe Kidd, The Mechanic, Sitting Target, The Poseidon Adventure, Jerimiah Johnson, Fuzz, The Grand Duel, Pulp, Zero Population Growth, The Valachi Papers, The Carey Treatment

reply

TV movies too, with the appearance of the mighty Lieutenant Columbo!

reply

Two critically-acclaimed made-for-TV movies came out in 1971: Brian's Song and Duel.

Save the holiday season.

reply

Oh yeah, Brian's Song is a true classic...

reply

The 1970s were the bomb for movies. Music too.
