I love me some Bob Seger

He's a good one! Lots of good power and passion in his voice.

reply

Oh yeah! Listen to how good he sounds here live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evnZfSEtr5k

reply

Yep! When someone sounds as good live as they do on a recording that's something special.

reply

Agreed👍
I was playing some Jelly Roll and Johnny Cash this late afternoon until I saw this thread.

Seger certainly kicks ass, great growl in his voice and very bluesy tunes.
I’m starting Seger songs on Alexa now.

Classic music!

reply

"Growl and bluesy" is a good way to describe his style. Glad you got infected. 😁

The Silver Bullet Band is also a cool name for a band, I think.

reply

Agreed!
Check out Jelly Roll sometime, he has a similar sound to Seger’s vocals and he does some good duets. Kind of country/rock, pretty, sad, solid songs about being lost or trying to get better.

reply

I'm aware of Jelly Roll and yes, he has a very resonant voice. I will check out his music. I respect him for this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywGOKo8a4f0

reply

He seems like a gent!
I heard him interviewed and he came off as a very sincere guy that made a few mistakes but is improving his life now.

I wish him well, his music is great.

reply

Looks like I just missed him. Beautifully Broken Tour. https://www.travelks.com/event/jelly-roll-beautifully-broken-tour/33427/ That's catchy. The guy seems deep.

reply

Just found this and you made a convert out of me. Yeah, this guy can sing. My kind of music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1nRboaLTzU

reply

Wow, this blew me away! "Who the hell am I to expect a savior, if I only talk to God when I need a favor?"

reply

Oh yeah, I only just recently heard of him and I really dig his music. It’s a weird hybrid of blues, country and rap. Great songs with a lot of soul.

reply

"...songs about being lost or trying to get better."

I've been learning a lot about this guy over the last several days. Yeah, he has really turned his life around. His wife refers to him as, The Pied Piper of Lost Souls.

reply

Yeah, a lot of his stuff has held up.

I was grooving to this one a couple weeks back....

Great music! I grew up listening to Bob Seger. He's also from my home state Michigan.

One of the few great things to come out of that cesspool that is Ann Arbor (certainly not their former cheating, booger-eating head coach...cheated their way to a national title).

Sorry, I couldn't resist (I'm an Ohio State fan). 😃 I actually have a lot of respect for the Michigan football program (but not Jim Harbaugh and I do think their "national championship" should be taken away from them, due to cheating). One of my older sisters got her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Ohio State and her PhD from Michigan...I spent a lot of time in Ann Arbor from around 1988 to 1995.

reply

I live in the Yoop. Haven't been to Ann Arbor since I was a kid. Huge Michigan fan though. I think Ohio State is going to beat at Michigan this year.

Weird game for OSU today at Penn State. I feel like OSU should've won that game going away, but it took a goal-line stand (and some very questionable playcalling by Penn State) to secure the victory.

After living through the John Cooper years and now the Ryan Day years, I sure won't feel comfortable as an OSU fan when they play Michigan. 😃 One of the highlights of my life was being in attendance for the 2002 OSU-Michigan game...what a game that was.

Will be interesting to see how Michigan does against Oregon this afternoon.

reply

Not too good it appeared to be. Oregon looks way better than the rest of the B10, but ya never know what can happen. OSU v Indiana should be good game too hopefully.

reply

Yes, Indiana really looks good... they're a great story this season. They play OSU in Columbus the week before the OSU-Michigan game. That should be some game.

Huge Bob Seger (and The Silver Bullet Band) fan here also. When I was first learning how to play guitar back in the 1980s, Bob Seger's music was a huge influence on me and I loved playing along with his songs (and still do to this day). Just a great songwriter and musician...so many great songs.

reply

Me too, one of my favorites.
