I've detested them with a burning passion from the very first time I heard them. I sighed in utter unmitigated relief the moment the mid 90s rolled on and I was thankfully spared being subjected to their so-called "music" day in and day out.

I'd die a happy man if I never had to listen to a single second of their insufferable self-important whiny shit ever again.

Outstanding in their time.

The first is always the best, as I recall, Nirvana was first with the "Grunge Music".

So, how about nowadays - eehh, pretty good, they've got some stuff that held up....

Yeah, this one still rocks.

I saw the comparison with ALice in Chains.

HHmm, too close to call, two terrific bands that had a very short shelf life (I don't consider AIC sans Layne Staley AIC).

Let me think of a fave AIC track.....

YEp, still rockin'.

They hit the scene bigtime after I graduated high school in the fall of 1991. I remember watching Smells like teen spirit on the jukebox network & thought it was groundbreaking to what was out at the time and later became known as the grunge movement.

I especially liked Lounge Act seen here https://youtu.be/jSw_hnurmIY?si=asp0aunlCPewmseg You said you liked Alice & Chains which I was into too but not on the level of Nirvana. They still sound fresh all these years later.. https://youtu.be/aIr_IXXLZ8Q?si=W-QsUAnZV1q62EMJ

Not really a fan but I like several songs by them. all of their hits plus Pennyroyal Tea, Negative Creep, Territorial Pissings. In Bloom is an overshadowed gem.

I really loved Nirvana, plus I’m a fan
of the second amendment. But as a known detox patient and drug abuser someone in his crew should have chucked Kurt’s shotgun
in a pond immediately.

The entire thing was a failure of looking out for your good pal.

I'm one of those people that believe he was actually murdered (probably by Courtney Love...she didn't pull the trigger, but I think she was the one who planned it). Unfortunately, we'll probably never really know the whole truth...but a lot of things don't add up to suicide, IMO.

reply

Iv’e known a few depressed people, some of them go out their own way Amigo. I state this with all due respect, but suicide is NO way out yet some people are really just sad and busted down.

Maybe if we are all nicer to each other, lay down our arms, talk stuff out, share a handshake or a hug this awful stuff would not happen.

reply

Yes, you are so right, unfortunately. I've been there and it's a terrible place to be. You don't think clearly/rationally and it feels like you're trapped in a hopeless situation. You just have to fight through it somehow.

Kurt Cobain definitely had his issues...on the day that he (supposedly) shot himself, he had a bunch of heroin in his system that might have done him in anyway. But something has always seemed "off" about Cobain's "suicide" and especially Courteney Love. I know the FBI came out a few years ago and said it was definitely a suicide, but that makes me think even more that Cobain was murdered. 😃

There certainly have been some famous controversies regarding "celebrity deaths" over the years...Fatty Arbuckle, George Reeves, Bobby Fuller (of "I Fought The Law" fame...now there's a "suicide" that I believe was a "murder"), Natalie Wood, et.al. I think they're interesting stories and we'll probably never really know the whole truth as to what happened in their situations.

The soundtrack of my teens would have been completely different without them

My opinion on the band: Nirvana
None. Never listened to them. Sorry. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Forgive me, please. I have my old fogey card, so there's that.

reply

A ll apologiies 😂to their ( many, many fans),but I thought Nirvana was way overarted. Cob ain wrote interesting and original songs but he was a terible singer a n d guitarist.

reply

And he was a prick. Some of his behaviour while being interviewed was unacceptable.

Yeah, we get it, you don't like the marketing side of the business, prick. Another couple of hours and you can go home to shoot up heroin.
