Fake Wars are possible using Augmented Reality

It should possible to use Augmented Reality headsets, visors, whatever to create fake bullet wounds / fake blood. All the civil war reenacting could be super realistic. You could have fake tank battles using just blanks and Augmented Reality handling the rest. Fake smoke, fire, explosions, etc.

I'm no proponent of war but if they're unavoidable, it's too bad they can't be fought this way, too.

There is an old Star Trek episode “A Taste of Armageddon" about this.

Yep unfortunately.

Then it wouldn't be a real war. It would just be a video game.

You know, we already have VR First Person Shooters, and they suck. That kind of gameplay doesn't translate to VR well.

Not to mention, why would any country care if they lost a "fake" virtual reality war in a video game against another country. Who the hell is going to accept that as a definitive result? The entire concept is a joke. VR doesn't even work well for a FPS game let alone a real war simulation.

I think Augmented Reality would need to be used differently for such battles or fights. I envision something similar to Frieza's soldiers from DBZ, not a full headset like VR. It couldn't be used for a real war situation.
