Is Oasis anyone's favorite band?

I keep getting hit left and right with news and videos about the Oasis reunion like this is something I care about. I don't recall ever listening to their songs on demand anywhere and probably heard more than the recommended dose of covers and karaoke versions of wonderwall.

Does this band mean anything to you? Have you ever listened to their discography?

I just remember disliking intensely the attitude of the vocalist

reply

Yeah. The Gallaghers.

reply

Nah The Beatles are even their favorite band.

reply

Never been my cup of tea.

reply

I don’t know anything about them except that they are supposed to be like the Beatles?

reply

They did seem to intentionally give that ‘Fab Four’ vibe. It seems everyone sensed that but hey, Oasis was a pretty good band. What I remember most is that the Gallagher bros constantly bickered and beat the hell of each other lol!

reply

Not mine but they were pretty good, lots of radio play and some solid hits👍

reply

no.

reply

No but Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, and Live Forever are great songs.

They're not a favourite band. Musically, I find them rather pedestrian. Wanting to sound like The Beatles never made them as inventive or searching as The Beatles...

But they did have some decent anthemic tunes that have stood the test of time, at least here in the UK where -- of course -- they were massive and ubiquitous in the 1990s.

If I never hear Wonderwall again it'll be too soon. But not because it's a bad song, just because there was a long period of time when you couldn't walk into a pub without hearing the bloody thing. [See also: Mr Brightside by The Killers]

But I quite like some of the songs that weren't massively overexposed. Acquiesce, Round Are Way, Cigarettes & Alcohol, The Importance of Being Idle... They have some good tunes to belt out foolishly on a drunk walk home.

I have all their albums and have seen both Liam and Noel at solo gigs.

They are very good, but I was more a fan of bands like Blur and Radiohead from the same era.
