Was it "fair" for the law recently to threaten Salt N Pepa with arrest over performing the song "Push It".

Hell, even IF the song contains lyrics of a s***** nature, and its been out for decades and can be heard on YouTube and whatnot, would they really need or even deserve a police arrest for that?

In addition, even if they were to be arrested, would the police think of them too or even basically BADLY or just ordinary and artistic wrongdoers if even that?

And also, they probably performed it live many times even in recent years. What has particularly changed SO drastically in law and otherwise including in one or more particular American states that now dictates they could be behind bars like that for it?

And folks, do you think as humanity we are too s*****ly SENSITIVE or is it, maybe THAT as well, but, well, there's more to it than that? AND IS OUR artistic freedom unnecessarily under too much authoritarian and legal scrutiny AS WELL and that we sadly don't have freedom and control to do what we want like that, and to many folks out there, its simply a sad fact of life?

Even MORE SO - can we find SATISFYING answers to all of this so we can live freely and happily and avoid panic, or is that ALSO under scrutiny, thanks.

P.S. I as a male in REAL LIFE often prefer nowadays to stay at home and sleep and I am very CAREFUL not to do ANYTHING that may be classed as "illegal" but I also at times fear and resent being say threatened by law. I am also sensitive to women in general including the idea of them breaking law (but don't worry, just my small mental state these days) including over matters like this, but I am not on any err opposite extreme side either. And I urge us all to be mindful, careful and respectful but also want to relax and enjoy life. Thanks.

I hope Salt N Pepa gets through it alright and maybe if it feels this much, then all I could advise for them is to cancel that gig. :)

Links please. I have no idea what you're talking about.

this was in 1986 for some context...

There's also no specifics in the story about who threatened them and where. It sounds like a publicity stunt. But I'm sure the legendary duo outraged plenty of people back in the day.

2 Live Crew was banned in the USA.

listening to the songs today is like watching a PG movie. now rappers are talking about WAP and mimicking sex on tv. its amazing what we tolerate today vs the 80's. and we wonder why kids are so messed up....

1986? I was three years old lol

I cannot say yes or know, but only the music community can decide...

Well, I almost appreciate that view on music considering today we got things like Christina Aguilera performing while wearing a strapon during a free show with kids at it. (Madonna pulled some stunts but it was fir those who paid).

Salt N' Pepa didn't do anything necessarily wrong but boy is music such crap today that performers are nearly doing porn on stage. At least have some talent and fitness like Wendy O' Williams.
