What's something that annoys you in films & tv shows?

Things that happen often in fiction that just "piss you off".

There are countless things but I'm gonna go with the one that inspired this post.

I'm watching this show right now & it's a mystery-ish show. The main character is about to learn something, they get interrupted & she doesn't even follow up.

Happens a second time with a different character. Someone walks in & they just stop the conversation.

It's important information, you can literally continue the fucking conversation. It's not top secret stuff.

That happens A LOT in so many shows & movies & it annoys the shit outta me! πŸ˜†

I know it's just something to drag the hell outta the story but it just infuriates me how often it happens.

How about y'all? What's YOUR thing?

Loon calls used to denote a "wilderness" setting, never mind that the scene is nowhere near a body of water in freakin' Ohio or someplace...

Or a Kookaburra (Australian bird) for a jungle sound

Using the same non-copyrighted sounds for actions like punches etc.

Happy ending in almost all movies, even in horror

Very convoluted plots

Casting black and Asian actors in the role of white characters

Got a couple. The one that first comes to mind was just generally mentioned, but I have a specific disdain for the overuse of the Wilhelm scream as an inside joke among filmmakers, but it just immediately takes me out of the film. There is also a falling male scream that kind of "yodels," and a repeating female shriek that do the same.

Another eye roller is the overused trope of someone getting shot in the chest and they apparently die, but then they come to and reveal they were wearing a a bulletproof vest under their clothes and apparently were just knocked out. I would imagine that would hurt like hell, and might be incapacitating, but knocked out?

And lastly, when the hero gets the upper hand on the bad guy in the third act, they never take steps to render them permanently harmless, usually leaving them their weapon to cause further harm.

When something really bothers me but no one else gives a damn. LOL.

If the main character is an unlikable jerk. Like Scarface and The 2007 Heartbreak kid.

I especially dislike main characters who are written as assholes but get a pass because they're a genius.

I've come to hate these characters the older I've gotten.

I mean the character is so unlikeable but we're supposed to root for him/her cause they're smart & also the MC? That's BS writing.

SciFi which relies upon scientific absurdities. i.e. 98% of SciFi.

When someone walks into a dark creepy house and calls out, β€œHello?”

reply

"Hello, is anybody there?

"Well, of course. Come on in. I'm in the kitchen. Chilling, haunting."

And we won’t bother to turn the lights on either πŸ™„
