I’m scared to death guys!

I’m taking my baby to college tomorrow morning. She’s 17 now but if you hit me with a golf club I wouldn’t believe it! I cupped her in one arm like a football when Eli Manning was winning superbowls.
I’m so not ready for this!

Fuck this, I want baby girl HERE on my lawn!!!!!!!!!

reply

She might meet a nice fella

reply

Oddly enough I could deal with that guy👍
That was me thirty years ago, I get it!

reply

Well, he does become a Senator.

reply

Seems like a dude you could get wasted and go fishing with too. Top fella!

And good taste in music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8V_hCqO6UQs

reply

I see nothing wrong with that…I’m liking this guy for my daughter more and more!

reply

You're not ready for it, but she is --thanks to you.👍

things maychange, but you never stop being a father, as my amazing father told me every time he bailed out my dumb ass..

c Congrats to both of you as you begin this new chapter.

And enjoy it, because the next one is just around the corner 🙂

I appreciate your kind words.
Thank my stars she’s less than an hour away and I am bringing trouble if anything seems ‘funny.’

reply

She will be fine and you will get through it. No worries, Amigo. 👍

Signed, million man.

17 years of parenting and hard work starts the new adventure.

She takes the reigns and you try to take a break...

Until Laundry, expenses, breakups, and annoying college friends come up.

Your still dad and she still your daughter.

Bit now you get to tell her, "try three before me." She had to try three solutions before coming for help.

reply

Maybe if you let her live in your house instead of on your lawn she would have stuck around.

When I see parents with young kids, I tell them they'll be looking at colleges before you know it.

My two sons are now in their 30s, and let me tell you, they got along just fine even though I didn't know if they were ready.

Your daughter's got a good dad, and if any of your goodness is in her, you'll be proud of her in four years.

My oldest boy has a three year old and one of the way. I told him last week he'll be looking at colleges before he knows it...

reply

Congrats on your grandson and future arrival! That’s real nice👍

reply

Then just keep her home and tell her you can't let her go, that by doing so, it makes you feel old as fuck

reply

Just let her know you'll be there for her if she should need you, and be prepared that she will come back and need you sometime unexpectedly in the future. But you did your job so she could do this thing called life, so consider yourself a success and pack tissues.

reply

Somehow I did not actually need tissues but my wife and daughter did.

reply

Okay, that's good. Sorry for your wife and daughter though.

reply

Sheesh! I’m such a dork!!

I texted her today just to check in and she was all like, ‘Dad, I’m in a meeting with my friends, I’ll hit you later.’

Heart broken!
Didn’t even know I had one💔

reply

Maybe you could pull a Melissa McCarthy and become the "Life of the Party"? Is it time for you to go back to college?

reply

That would be hilarious but I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t fit in. These college kids are totally different today.

I scoped the whole joint out, all the kids were pleasant and even helpful.
It was really hard to comprehend but everyone was so kind. I’m not used to that. Felt strange.

reply

I'm glad your daughter will hopefully get a positive college experience then.

reply

Thanks. The campus is gorgeous and the kids all seemed really nice. We did give her the ‘walk around with friends’ speech of course.

My experiences on several college campuses visiting friends and family were generally very positive. Young guys are actually not predatory in general. A lot of them will offer to walk a girl back to her dorm if she’s a bit drunk. I’ve done it, we’ve all heard the horror stories. Get the girl home, no funny business.

reply

Some of my best mates are men I met in college, glad to see that hasn't changed.
