According to your IMDb ratings, have you given more 1s or 10s?

Me:
1s - 14x
10s - 17x

reply

1s - 44 (2% of my total)
10s - 41 (2% of my total)

reply

1 and 10 are by far my lowest number of ratings.

I expect a pun or bad song in everyone of your threads.

Don't disappoint me again. I'll cover you this one time.

What type of food do bad puns like to eat? Pun-cakes.

What happened to Mr. Benét?

reply

I came into some money and he makes private music just for me.

And being selfish, I ain't sharing. The world doesn't deserve his brilliance.

I imagine when my money runs out, he'll post something for the peasants.

reply

Joke's on you. I'm now his manager.

reply

1s - 6
10s - 2

Votes - 1270.

reply

"Independence Day" and "Avengers" are the 10s I'm guessing.

reply

I’m guessing Wizard of Oz and Asian Babes VII

reply

Wizard of Oz is correct!

reply

He gives Asian Babes VII a 6.9.

reply

Independence Day and Avengers: Infinity War are both 9s (I’m a harsh marker - same with music).

reply

Almost every Marvel movie gets a 6 from me except "Iron Man". That's an 8.

reply

1s - 1
10s - 41

Total films : 1008

reply

I can tell you're selective with movies like I am. There's a huge difference between the movies I've given a 6+ compared to below it.

Yep, I have a pretty hard drop off like that also. I’ve always thought it was partly due to the way I rarely stray from my favorite genres.

I use Letterboxd rather than IMDb. And I only rate out of five. (You can rate out of ten if you use half-stars, but I'm too simple-minded for that.)

Anyway:

1 star - 34 films (1%)
2 stars - 356 films (15%)
3 stars - 939 films (40%)
4 stars - 731 films (31%)
5 stars - 281 films (12%)

I almost always see some merit in a film even when I don't like it, so that's why there's loads more twos than ones.

reply

I’m on Letterboxd also as mrmojo4700

reply

I have almost 5000 ratings on IMDb and only 14 1s. I usually see some merit too in awful movies, but considering I've only given the lowest score 14 times, that's gotta mean that those movies must have resulted in me pulling my hair out.

reply

Yeah. I'm similar, I think. I've probably given a few 2s to films that probably only deserved 1. I try to be generous. I want to see the merit in things.

Also, I think that if a film is somewhat entertaining because it's bad (Plan 9, Manos, Wish Upon, that kind of thing), while I can't bring myself to pretend it's a good film, I can't say it's among the very worst. The very worst films are unrelentingly boring and probably insultingly bad instead of entertainingly bad.

reply

I know what you mean. "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" is a terrible film, but it's a 6/10 for me because it's so damn enjoyable for all its stupidity.

reply

1s - 10x
10s - 12x

*regarding tv shows, films, tv movies.

reply

1s - 3x
10s - 46x

Too often I forget to go on IMDb and rate movies I’ve seen.

reply

Always rate movies. It has saved me so many times from watching a terrible movie again but forgot I saw.

reply

That’s smart indeed.

I do keep my reviews on my computer And I review every movie I watch so that’s my go to if I’m not sure.

reply

1's - 3x
10's - 7x

out of 811 movies. Add another 2x 1's if including TV movies.

There's other interesting insights on your imdb profile page: https://www.imdb.com/profile?ref_=nv_usr_prof_2
I was surprised to find I rate Musicals relatively highly in the Top-rated genres section.
Top-rated year is the year of my birth, and I wonder if that is the same for other people too where we value nostalgic films we grew up watching.

reply

The decade by decade ratings really shocked me. 50s were my highest rated decade. I expected it to be the 70s or 90s.
