Ok, Let's Discuss The Topic of TIPPING

So being single and working the overnight shift, I have a tendency to eat out quite often and many times I order from the restaurant's online menu and in the end, when it comes time to pay for the "To Go Order", it'll give you Tipping Options like 10%, 15% 20% etc. I generally tip 15% because I know inflation is tough, but here's the thing: When I arrive at the Restaurant to pick up my to go order, they expect a Tip for bagging the food up and one time I didn't tip the person handing me the bag and she was pissed about it because I didn't tip her for taking the time to bag the food and whatnot, even after I already tipped 15% Online.. How do you feel about this?? Is this acceptable?? πŸ€”

i hit 2 places twice a month, my waitresses are Michelle and Melissa, both very good and i tip them well and in cash only. usually 30%. michelle puts me at the table i like if available and cracks the window on nice days. i get perks, if im late for the lunch special, i get the cheaper price anyway. they'll exchange my sides, etc.

no, i wouldnt tip for bagging take out. especially if you tipped on app. but personally i would only tip in cash.

This is exactly what tipping is all about.

I know a girl who moved to Australia after she married. Apparently there tipping is rare, but servers are paid full wages. She noticed that most servers were very abrupt and only did what they had to. She got a part time job as a server and waited on customers liked she was trained to do in the states. Customers actually tipped her very well because of the extra courtesy.

Hahaha - I can relate to a degree.

I ordered a pizza. I had to go down to the shop to pay for it.

I get there, give the guy my card, he runs it and says - sign this please.

I look at the receipt as always to make sure the charge is correct. It was. I notice a separate line (on the receipt) to leave a gratuity. I ignored it.

So, I give the guy the signed receipt, he looks down at it and makes about 15 different faces. I can only assume these faces he made were because I didn't leave an extra tip.

Well , why should I? I'm the one that drove down there. I'm the one that picked it up. If it was a delivery, of course, I'd have left at least 5 bucks. But a pickup? Well I guess I'm confused, I didn't know you were supposed to tip the person that checks you out.

To our hard working waiters, waitresses, and bartenders, I saw let's not make them pay income tax on those tips. No tax on tips--Someone should propose that.
