the more, the better! After all, you might not have included "Falling Down", which was kind of like the 90s version of "Taxi Driver", which had to be influenced by "Joe" (1970). Both movies even have Peter Boyle.

Great list.

Thanks man! Awesome to see Killing Zoe on your list. Love that movie.

I wanted to respond to this way before now, but it's been a really hectic week on this end (and it's probably going to stay this way for me through late October/early November).

The first 5 movies are pretty much "set in stone" for me...I love the second 5 also, but lots of competition for those spots:

1. The Legend Of Bagger Vance
2. Crossroads (the one with Ralph Macchio, not Britney Spears! 😀)
3. O Brother, Where Art Thou?
4. Rocky
5. Psycho
6. Back To The Future
7. Star Wars
8. Bull Durham
9. Major League
10. Platoon

Someone (not on this site) mentioned how the greatest movie is one about baseball from Asia. The fella is an art-house fan and usually knows great movies. Any idea what this movie might be?

reply

No! That has me intrigued...I will have to see if I can figure out what it is.

I went back to look, and the guy replied with "Youth".. Not sure if he was naming the movie, or calling this other guy a pejorative.

Ok, one has a few here - a few that stick out. No particular order......

The Godfather, Part 1 and 2

The Shawshank Redemption

Raging Bull

The 2010 version of True Grit

Downfall (possibly the greatest male acting performance I've ever seen)

The 1998 version of "Les Miserables"

Million Dollar Baby

Doubt

Ok, this is 9. As the day goes on a #10 will come to me. I'll update when it does

P.S.: Ok, Film #10 is a tossup. It's a tossup between....

"Training Day"

"Fatal Attraction"
