Have or would you consider owning a firearm for self-defense?

I thought about owning a shotgun in the event of burglaries or break-ins, but I don't how to use them and I'm afraid of the damn things. Plus, I'm not in the most perfect state of mind to own a firearm.

CAN'T...OWNING A GUN INSPIRES ME TO DO STUPID THINGS LIKE OPENING MY BEERS,CHANGING THE TV CHANNEL AND TURNING THE LIGHTSWITCH OFF BY SHOOTING MY GUN.

reply

Yep, we have to consider how we abuse our weapons....

reply

I was an Infantryman in the Army so I shot a lot of weapons.

Cool.

my carry guns are a kimber k6s .357 and a Sig 365xl 9mm w/ holosun 507KX2 RDS. i consider my k6s my "show-gun of yonkers", where it was made. i do own several rifles and a gun safe of course. i go to the range fairly regularly. https://www.kimberamerica.com/pub/media/catalog/product/cache/7b121bb0e42b9e3210eef70e8f077aa4/k/6/k6ssts3in_catprofile.png

you can go to a gun range and rent different guns and try them out and take classes on proper technique/maintenance for learning purposes. knowing your state of mind is important, if you question your ability of being responsible your probably best not owning.

reply

Yeah, I figured it's best I don't own guns. I agree with you.

If you are concerned about your mental state I would urge you not to get a firearm. Too many things could go wrong.

How’s about a nice nosy little doggie. It’ll be your best pal and will raise a din if there’s a bump in the night. Keep a flashlight and softball bat near your bed.

You’ll save a pound pups life, gain a fuzzy friend and have pretty decent security👍

Great advice. 👍

I had a dog once. My neighbour played KISS and that mutt ran away.

reply

That dog had as much good taste as you 😛

I'll get the last laugh when the members of PISS say that their careers were all a scam.

reply

I can’t wait for KISS and Motley Crue to go on tour together and sell out every stadium from Tokyo to Tallahassee!

Maybe then you will SHUSH it bro!

reply

Tallahassee? Ain't no one not caring about no about Tallahassee. (How many negatives was that?)

I fancy myself a very shitty poet, some words just belong together😄

I used to own a .38 special handgun but when my daughter was born I got rid of it for safety reasons. However when my daughter was 6 I took her to a gun range and taught her gun safety and how to use a handgun. Once she figured out the gun sites she was a sharpshooter. Since then I taught my daughter to fire various handguns, rifles and shotguns and she is scary accurate with all of them.

reply

The .38 is one of my favorite rounds, accurate, hard hitting, easy to clean, very little recoil.

A S&W Police model is foolproof, NO misfires and it blasts what you aim it at.

I understand you getting rid of it when baby came along, lots of guys ditch the guns when they have a little baby.

reply

My weapon of choice is a Super Soaker CPS 2000.

Good to know (GULP) 😳

If you don't know how to use them there are plenty of courses you could take.

If you are afraid of the damn things then the more you practice with them your fear will go away.

If you're not in the perfect state of mind to own a firearm then you probably shouldn't.
