Does Anyone Here Play the Stock Market?
Not just regular 401K contributions. I'm talking about active trading.
For anyone who does, how do you keep things on an even keel?

I do not, but I have a friend who does. He's not too good at it.
I bet there are some REDDIT threads out there that could help you out.
I used to, a little. Nothing big. Nowadays many firms offer $0 commissions, such as https://www.schwab.com/pricing This is rather astounding to someone such as myself, who remembers $25 minimums back in the 1970s (and that's 1970s $25) and by the 1980s a few discount firms offering $15 minimum commission.
So investing is easier than ever, with zero commissions and user friendly websites. But active trading, such as so-called day trading, is NOT recommended for the average person. Buy and hold is better for the average person (that includes me).
Outside my 401k I have some shares in a gold miners ETF. 401k's typically don't offer to invest in gold or silver. https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239654/ishares-msci-global-gold-miners-etf
I run a Financial Consultancy and I have Portfolio Managers that run that for me, lol.
