Ever visited Hawaii? Is it worth it?

No, I doubt I could afford it. My buddy had his honeymoon there and he and his wife raved about the natural beauty of the hills and beaches. They went to Pearl Harbor and there were a ton of Japanese tourists there, it struck him as strange. He showed me photos of a hike they took in the jungle, it is a beautiful destination for sure but pretty pricey.
shareToo close to Kowalski. I don't recommend.
shareYou can't fool us.

Please don't say "Kowalski" and "jam" in the same sentence again.

Yes, absolutely but do know it's expensive as well.. Stick to the more private islands like Maui & Kauai.. They're less congested and have low population.. Now, Honolulu ala, Waikiki is something I suppose you have to see since the airport is in Honolulu, but in the peak day, Waikiki Beach is super packed, like body to body around 2pm and there's alot of traffic as well given that this is the main place people who live there go to work daily.. I went in 1996 and flew on reliable TWA and would like to go when I'm 60 in 2 years, maybe less
shareAccording to my parents it was...back in the 1980s. One of my grandparents had a timeshare condo on Maui, so my parents got to go on multiple trips after their honeymoon, including taking my brother and I along as toddlers.
But even in the 1980s, trips there were expensive, hence why they didn't stay at a hotel on the beach, and were careful as to where they ate and what kind of souvenirs they bought.
I'm wary of Hawaii now because I've heard horror stories about how it's even more expensive to visit now, and there are homeless people everywhere (mostly native Hawaiians) sleeping in the streets now. Makes me wonder if some parts of the islands are now as bad off as San Francisco or New York. However, I suspect the state govt. did the same as SF and they keep the homeless away from the tourist areas. I mean, Hawaii's largest income is through tourism, and they can't let a bunch of bums sleeping on the sidewalks screw that up.
Gee?? This is a result of what happens when someone burns down a major town on Maui to make way for the ROCK & OPRAH to purchase up all of the land while the Old Hawaiiners who've lived there for like EVER are now displaced and homeless..
shareI heard a lot of suspicious stuff about those Maui wildfires. A lot of people who lived in the area were petitioned by third-party front-companies Oprah and others owned to try and sell their houses a few months before the fires. Not surprisingly, the owners said "no."
I don't believe that Directed Energy weapons were used, but I do have a strong suspicion that old-fashioned arson was involved, taking advantage of the dry climactic spell that was going on with the island at the time. The "incompetent emergency director" story is also suspicious too, because nobody is stupid enough to hire someone that incompetent to be in charge of people's safety in emergencies. Chances are, he was either drugged or bribed into holding back long enough for the fires to become a danger before ever getting off his ass to get the water out for the fire trucks.
What I don't get is why the police were told to stop people from leaving their burning neighborhoods? That doesn't make sense in any reality. And yet I saw photos of police cars barring people from driving out of their neighborhoods, and the photos show people jumping over the cop cars and running, completely ignoring the cops' orders.
I would avoid Oahu and Honolulu. the only thing s worth seeing there are Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Dole Plantation and for a hokey time, the Polynesian Cultural Centre.
Kauai and the Big island are better
I really enjoyed Waimea Valley.

Pearl Harbor essentially takes a whole day, I don't recommend it.
I'm in L.A. I've been to Waikiki 4 times, always got discount, promotions, etc. Relatively inexpensive.
I've only been to Oahu.
