Why "Cats" is considered a bad movie, but "Barbie" is an Oscar worthy billion dollar movie?

They are completely different types of movies.

One was a CGI nightmare of a no longer popular Broadway musical, and the other is a funny, and sort of deep movie about a nostalgic toy that a lot of people watched.

Haven’t seen either but going off the trailers Cats just looked bad. Barbie also looks bad but in a more fun kind of way.

They're both shit sandwiches, but at least the characters in Barbie didn't look weird. And Barbie has nice art-direction (as much as I would hate to live there).
