I've read about the Emmet Till case but was unaware there was a dramatization. Pretty sad story.
Never even heard of Tar... I'm afraid I'm not much help here:(
I've seen both.
My review of Tar: Cate Blanchett gives a powerhouse, career best performance in this excellent film. The screenplay is intelligent and well written, definitely one of that year's best. Todd Field does a great job directing the film. 9/10 (I've seen it twice)
My review of Till: Powerful film with an excellent performance by Danielle Deadwyler, definitely one of the top 5 best performances by a lead actress that year. 8/10
My advice is buy both.
Tàr is worth watching at least once.
