I.e. when you receive a gift but then give it to someone else often in the guise of a brand new gift.

shareI did it once. My mother in law sent me a very nice fruit cake. I needed a last minute gift for my next door neighbor so I re-gifted the fruit cake to her. Apparently she forgot about where she got that fruit cake and re-gifted it to me the following Christmas. Out of curiosity I tried that fruit cake and it was fine. No spoilage whatsoever.
