I Just Got Ripped Off

I'm HOT right now!! Back on Dec 14th, I was purchasing a Gift Card from Walgreen's for the amount of $250.00 for my girlfriend for Christmas.. Today, she goes to the store to use it and it's no good, that the card doesn't have a CCV Code on the back when she opened it up and apparently was replaced with a duplicate card which I've heard about on the News of people doing in stealing them.. It should be noted that when I purchased this, they kept the Gift Cards behind the register for this very reason!! She tried calling the 800 number on the back and it goes to a recording.. No fucking good folks.. NO FUCKING GOOD!!!

It sounds like this might already be resolved, but just in case it hasn't, if you purchased the Gift Card with a credit card, they'll probably give you credit. I had this problem with ARCO gas cards at Kroger, I paid with credit card, card emptied in one day, ARCO told me where it was "used," it was someplace hundreds of miles away. My credit card gave me credit. Now, I've used this card for like 20+ years and never put in a fraud claim before...

I figured that what probably happened was that the Kroger cameras were filming the Activation receipt that gets spit out (I'm using self check-out.) I still do this, but I take care to stand over the receipt printer, no problems since...

If you bought it with a credit card then they may credit your account by removing the $250. Contact them and let them know what happened.

I used my Debit Card and they're sending a New Visa Gift Card in 3-5 Business Days Fed Ex

That's great news!

I was given a Visa Vanilla card for Christmas and was afraid the same thing would happen. I lucked out and made a purchase with no problem.

They can do this electronically now.

Did you use another credit card to buy the gift card with? If so you can possibly see if they can do a charge back on the merchant you bought the card from.
