Your thoughts on Tom Cruise?

Exceptional actor. But seems like a douchewad and a control freak in real life in regards to his marriages and work. People HATE working for him.

Also, the scientology thing. Ugh....

Decent actor. Clearly has a passion for movie making, in particular stunt work.

Seems like a real weirdo.

I've noticed people with exceptional and great talents tend to be weirdos in their personal life. Look at Michael Jackson for example.

It is impressive Tom Cruise was able to pull off those stunts in his late 50s and early 60s. Impressive.

I really like his films.

As a person he seems a bit odd.

I have difficulty watching his movies due to his public persona and everything associated with it. Also, I once had a client who was a former scientologist, born into it because her parents were in it. She was in the process of leaving it when I knew her, and the stress and ostracization she was being put through was appalling. I'm reminded of it every time is see that guy.

That said, he was hilarious in Tropic Thunder (2008).

I wish the midget had turned down the role of Jack Reacher.

Living legend. Is single handedly propping up Hollywood by using his star power to make excellent quality non-woke movies with real stunts that audiences enjoy.

Added to that, he acted in some incredible films in the 80’s and 90’s, and showed serious acting chops in classics like Rain Man and A Few Good Men, where he holds his own against icons like Dustin Hoffman and Jack Nicholson.

A person of his energy and will power will often have ‘overspill’ and that’s where he’s lost the plot with Scientology and a few ‘magic moments’ in public like jumping on Oprah’s couch. Yeah, it’s weird, but it’s dwarfed by all the good he has done, and continues to do, for cinema.

He’s the last movie star and he won’t be around forever, guy’s an International Treasure.

He's an arrogant, overrated, egotistical shit whose time has come and gone, and he's the only one in America who doesn't know it. After the way he's treated his three ex-wives, he deserves to be alone too, considering he loves himself more than anyone on the planet.

reply

I agree with all those things except "overrated". He does have genuine talent as an actor, and he is rightly recognized for it.

Even when he was young and attractive, I felt like something was wrong with him, and noticed other people didn't seem to like him either, though they never explained why. Might have something to do with that "I'm-better-than-you/I-just-ate-shit" smile he has on some of his earliest films, including "Top Gun." Then I start hearing about what he was like when the cameras were off, what kind of a husband he was, and his activities in the cult of Scientology, and all of that was a big turn-off.

I think he is a great actor, but I also agree with AmeriGirl26 (except for the overrated part. I do think he is a great actor).
