Do you put antlers on your dog for Christmas?
Poor doggies have to endure the “reindeer antlers” headdress at this time of year.

shareWell, first I have to get a dog...
But no, I would not do this. I see it as torture for the pup.
No, Kings Towers is a pet free zone.
share.
shareMeh, the dumb dog will survive.
shareYeah, but Kowalski doesn't like it. He barks in anger at me.
shareWe tried that on Ginger, our Shepsky, but she wasn't having any of it. She didn't like the jingling little bells, and after I'd put the antlers on, she'd thrust her head down and then knock them off with her paw. I quit after two attempts.
shareNo, the doggies hate the antlers almost as much as they do those funnel-shaped collars the vets put on them after surgery so the dog can’t go bothering his stitches.
We had 1 poster on this topic who basically said he didn’t care if his dog liked it or not. He is now on Ignore. I hope his dog finds a new Daddy.
We were forced to put a cone on Ginger one time because she had scratched her left cheek with her dewclaw until it bled (I blame a bug bite). The vet had to shave her cheek and sterilize the wound, but we had to leave the cone on so her pretty face could heal. Poor baby acted like she was being punished :( We didn't want her to wear the cone collar, but if we had taken it off, she would have opened the wound on her cheek again. Thankfully she healed, and we got that cone off as soon as it was safe to do so.
I usually try to make life good for our pets. It's one reason our dogs never spent all night barking in our backyards. We spent time with them every day, walked them, fed them, had them hang out with us, and they were happy and quiet as a result. I feel awful about people who just feed their dogs and leave them in one place all the time. It's not fair to the animal in question because they need more than just food and shelter to really live. They need social interaction and exercise. They need to know someone cares about them.
And children need the same love and belongingness as our dogs, but how many alleged parents feel their responsibility begins and ends with feeding, clothing and getting the child on the school bus?
You can tell a hell of a lot about someone by how they treat their child or their pet.
Well....yes and no. For most people, a kind parent or pet owner means they're a good person. But I've also heard of bad people who were still good pet owners, so sometimes that philosophy gets muddled.
share*Lawyer voice* I said “a lot,” not “everything.*
I know what you mean, and you are of course right. I value you.
On a happier note, it's perfectly fine if you put a bandana around your dog's neck :D They barely notice it's there, and it makes them look cuter. Only time I advocate dog sweaters is if the dog truly needs it, like a short-haired or hairless dog living in a cold climate. Booties are okay if they will benefit the dog in cold weather, so long as you train the dog to wear them, otherwise they won't like wearing "shoes."
shareMe and the kids today were having PTSD from The Grinch. We watched the movie twice this week and every teacher and specialist read the book. Today was the last day and we had library. The librarian unfortunately decided to read the Grinch again.... I've never seen so many bored kids. They were all calling out he made Max wear the antlers.
