I am attending a formal event which I do not have choice about.
I hate these things. The crowds, food, drinks, clothes, shoes, etc... it's gawdy and uncomfortable.
Do people actually enjoy these things?
I know I don't.
A question for the guys who hate formal wear here:
If you could wear something this utterly fabulous instead of a boring old tuxedo, would you like formal events more?

I concede that most men have no idea how to wear formal ware, or much of anything else.
Once every year I dress up to the occasion. I used to like it, but my will to attend dims with each passing year
shareI'm with you, I DO NOT enjoy any big, crowded, formal events.
The truth is I look and feel absurd in a suit and I dislike small talk. "So, what do you do for a living?" is almost the worst thing I can hear. I do genuinely enjoy and like most people but only in a casual setting like a neighbor's garage or a BBQ, etc.
I used to especially when I was in the Army. I enjoyed wearing my dress uniform at these events and it as fun. Nowadays I don't attend any kind of event because I prefer to stay home and watch wovies.

shareSometimes. Depends on who's hosting and what the event is. Weddings are hit or miss, work/family functions are much the same. And of course it depends on your mood on the day as well - sometimes it's exciting to see old friends and relatives and sometimes it very much bites the big one.
