😬 The 'S' word

It's snowing here. Not ready for this! The only good thing is that it won't stay long.

We got a little snow here too (central Maine) yesterday (the 30th); first time we've had snow in October in decades:

lol indeed. used to trip down there from Basingstoke now and then when I lived there a few years ago

reply

I’m very lucky to live here.

reply

You're lucky. We haven't gotten any here yet.

reply

It does a lovely job of covering up all the filth.

Pity it can't be worldwide.

reply

Yep, woke up to a snow covered ground and had to remove snow from the cars yesterday morning. We had no clue it was coming. Today it’s already all gone.

Reminds me of Halloween of '91. We were living in IL at the time, so we actually saw snowflakes while Trick-or-Treating. Not as bad as some states had it, but it was weird. I found out later it was due to Mount Pinatubo blowing up in the Philippines earlier that year. It not only colored sunsets around the world that year, but made winter come earlier than usual. I have no doubt the Tongo volcano is partially responsible for this.

I lived in Minnesota in '91. We still call it the Halloween Blizzard, which actually lasted until November 3rd. Over two feet of snow in my yard when all was said and done.

reply

I had family living up there at the time, so I have no doubt my cousins experienced that same snow.

I don't know how people who live in places like Buffalo deal with the monstrous snows they often get there. One area I would never choose to live.

reply

The people of Buffalo are resilient, particularly those born and raised there. They know all the tricks in how to deal with the lake-effect snow. They expect it every year and are often not disappointed.
