do you buy halloween candy?
we got 25 kit kat and 25 snickers. should be enough.
shareDid last year but nobody came trick or treating
Not anymore. Seems like these days there are very few kids out except the 13-15 year-olds who are out there with really lame costumes and all they want is a huge haul of candy.
My kids and I went trick-or-treating only a couple of years when my oldest two were seven and five. They just weren't that interested in it. The last year we went it was cold, wet, and snowy. I think we did one block and they were ready to go home. Halloween this year is forecast to be around 32℉ and windy. Doesn't sound like much fun.
Halloween was destroyed when the U.S. Congress extended Daylight Stupidity Time into November, and Canada followed suit.
There were rumors that the big candy manufacturers were pushing for this, believing it would increase the sales of holiday treats. They forgot that Halloween events take place after dark. Kids lost an hour of trick-or-treating time, especially when the holiday fell on a weekday and they had school the following day. I often wonder if this is why we now see Halloween candy displays up in the middle of summer. Are they trying to make up for the sales they lost in October?
Corporate greed continues to ruin what should be a special time of year.
No.
shareYes, there are lots of very young kids around the area so Halloween is kind of a big deal here.
We set up a card table and some decorations at the end of the driveway and pass out candy. Some of the neighbors tow wagons all decked out in lights, loaded with kids. It's pretty cool.
Unfortunately half my lights are dimmed out or dead from age, it's mostly cheap Chinese crap so the decorations need to be replaced every few years.
No - I live on a country lane - no sidewalks or lights = no kids.
shareYes...only bought 3 bags this year (one Hershey's, one Butterfinger, and one Nestle's Crunch), but I think I may go buy one more, just to be safe (probably Reese's Cups). Trick Or Treat Night is Tuesday here.
