I love it also! I'm not sure if you remember our conversation about those 1987 & 1991 Twins' teams, but I was a freshman in college during the 1987 Series and I'll never forget Kent Hrbek' grand slam in Game 6 and the TV broadcast measuring the crowd noise by the decibels ( I think it registered over 140 decibels, if I remember correctly...louder than an aircraft engine). I got to see the Twins in Spring Training in Orlando, Florida, the following year...I'll never forget it!
Sorry, I don't recall our conversation specifically, but I sure remember the 140 decibels statistic. Who can forget Hrbek's grand slam?? How about Gladden's grand slam in game 1? You have some great memories from your younger days. Lucky you!
My son loves baseball so much. He took his oldest three sons to one of this year's playoff games - unfortunately, it was the last game when the Astros clinched. But he said they had a great time and the atmosphere was great.
This same son can also imitate the batting stance of every Twins starting player from both series. Seriously, anyone who was a Twins fan during those years would know exactly who he was imitating.
Yes...there was really a great run of World Series during my teenage/young adult years (say, from 1982 to 1993). I don't watch MLB anymore, unfortunately...my boys just aren't into baseball like I was (and I don't have the time to watch it much anymore), plus I have a lot of issues with the way MLB is ran and played today.
Having said that, I'm glad your son still enjoys it. Baseball is such a great sport and there's nothing like playoff baseball.
