🎥 MovieClub Party: Friday/Saturday Features #20 🍿

I have a wedding on Saturday and I doubt I will be able to partake to the event on that night so I picked two movies I already saw. One I loved and was recommended by Ali and one I liked and doubt anyone else has seen. I will share my reviews just to titillate you a bit.

This Movie Party will allow two things to happen:

-people will be able to watch the same movie at the same time and interact here
-people will be able to have common movies to watch over the weekend and share reviews on my other weekly thread.

Event #1: Friday night, Oct. 13 9PM Eastern time (if you want to watch live) and event closes Sunday at 5PM (if you haven’t been able to watch live.)

The first feature is: Hatchet 2
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1270835/

For the night owls:
The God inside my ear (2017)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6921112/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_the%2520god%2520inside

Event #2: Saturday evening.

First feature: Maximum Overdrive (1986)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091499/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_q_maximum%2520ov

My review: It has an overkickass AC/DC soundtrack, an overcool beginning with the brigde, an overcute Emilio Estevez, overrad special effects, overbadass trucks, overwicked dialogues (Curtis: we gotta get some gas. Connie: that’s good because I got to go to the ladies room. Curtis: can I come in and watch? Connie: No, you cannot come in and watch! Curtis: Damn.), overintense love affair and finally, overslick direction from Stephen King. This movie is unfortunately the opposite of overrated.

For the night owls: Trick (2019)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9177040/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3

My review: I’m one of Omar Epps day-ones so this review might be bias but it’s October and the Halloween vibe here is great (love the killer’s masks and face paints!). The first 5 minutes are awesome and it keeps a pretty good pace although, unfortunately, the final act gets far fetched and convoluted. Overall: fun and entertaining.

You can now reply with a mention of which event(s) you will partake in for the weekend and also recommend a movie (on Tubi or any other free site) for next weeks.

Have fun!

reply

So If you didn't know the new guy Zargoff is my ex Husband.

reply

WHAT IS A ZARG OFF?...LIKE AND INTERGALACTIC ORGY?...OR...

reply

No its his Dungeons and Dragons name from 1990, I kid you not.

reply

Tell your ex that I agree that DnD is awesome, I still have all of my original modules, guides and the dice from the 80s, all boxed up and in pretty good condition. If Zargoff played the WWII strategy board game Axis And Allies as well then tell him that we are now MC buds!

reply

Ah, the snow ninja.

reply

yes, but he was like 20 there.

reply

I saw it, I liked it and I'm waiting for a sequel:)

reply

Do you secretly want him back? Don’t worry, you can tell me.

reply

No I'm happy. He still takes care of me.

reply

Ohh? Awww!

reply

Feel free to call bullshit on this theory but I think TRICK is an evil demon that can leap from host to host.

reply

I am getting that impression as well. No idea where this movie is going, but we'll see!

reply

Still there ?

Fun Halloween flick right?

C’mon man!

And don’t tell me My boy Omar phoned it in. He gave his all, man.

reply

He's doing his best with the material he's given. That's all you can ask of an actor these crazy days!

reply

He pushed a handicap person ina wheelchair for Pete sake!

reply

Hey I have those flash cards. They can be used for kids too:)

reply

What's good for lunch these days?

reply

Enchilada pie or Pozole soup...Lunches are the one thing that Arizona schools have really improved.

reply

Sounds worth a try!

reply

Bad casting, Bad, Bad, Bad...The lowest story can be brought up by compelling actors. These guys are lucky if they're cast as extras.

reply

The movie doesn't quite work, but there are some fun moments.

I think this would be better if Hugh Laurie were cast as the main detective, playing the character as a daft git in a powdered wig.

reply

Screw that, he could step in here and be badass detective.

reply

Y’all some haters bruv

reply

No hate here, it was ok.

reply

Tom Atkins was about 83 when this movie was made, the guy kicks ass!

reply

I'm not sure why but Night Of The Living Dead (68) is not copyrighted so it shows up in the background of a lot of horror flicks.

I just thought that was an interesting thing to share...carry on:)

reply

Cool beans brother Bob.

Hey, is your name Robert?

Have you ever actually shared your real name on this site?

I’m Will.

reply

My real name is Pedro The Sexy Pool Boy yet oddly enough I'm Irish and was born in Yonkers...weird right?

The frustrated upper class housewives in the area tip me very well. I think there have been more than a few biographies made about me but none are more than three or four minutes long.

reply

IT ALSO MEANS YOU CAN SELL COPIES OF IT LEGALLY...NEW BUSINESS VENTURE!

reply

I'm pretty sure It's A wonderful Life is not copyrighted either. Apparently it was a big turd at the box office so the studio didn't care and forgot about it. Years later networks looking for cheap or free holiday programming found it and played it so often it became a cult classic. I personally don't care for it, it's just too schmaltzy and Donna Reed is way too hot for nerdy Jimmy Stewart...just my two cents anyway.

reply

I HAVE SEEN IT EXACTLY...ONCE...GOT THE IDEA...NEVER LOOKED BACK.

reply

I have to watch it every holiday season.
They say you can't pick your family but I did pick this family and they are annoying :)

reply

Detective Mike Denver is such a soap opera name.

reply

😂

reply

We're looking at you Johnny Utah from Point Break lol:)

reply

Anyone caught that kid 57 mins in?
