Bought some egg nog today

I'm officially ready for Christmas movie season to start this Friday!

reply

It's too early for "Christmas." We haven't even celebrated Halloween yet.
When stores put up "Christmas" decorations in September and the Hallmark Channel airs "Christmas" movies in July, it cheapens what should be a special time of year. I've overheard people in December talking about how glad they will be when Christmas is over. How sad.
December 1 is early enough for Christmas music, decorations and programming.

reply

Nah. Late October is the ideal time to start watching Christmas movies.

reply

No, October means Halloween, although that holiday is also being ruined when stores put up Halloween candy displays in the middle of summer.
Keep the holidays in their proper places. Oversaturation and overkill ruin these special days. October 1 is early enough for Halloween and December 1 is early enough for "Christmas." And if you live in the U.S. November is time for Thanksgiving Day, a holiday that gets little mention because it has been overshadowed by "Christmas" commercialism and greed.

(I put "Christmas" in quotations because what is being celebrated here is materialism and consumerism, not the holiday.)

reply

Don’t waste your time, he’s lost in the nog.

reply

Already put my tree up. Don't know why, I was just in the mood for christmas early this year. Maybe the world's gonna blow up before we get there.

reply

And you will be tired of it by the time December arrives. The old saying about "too much of a good thing" applies here.

The holiday season should remain a special time of year. There are so few holidays left anymore. Don't spoil the experience.

reply

Exactly.

reply

The earliest I'll start my Christmas movie watching is after Remembrance Day, but usually I start a week before December since it's technically one month before Christmas.

reply

December 1 is plenty early for "Christmas" decorations, movies or music.

reply

Sure, but I watch a lot of Christmas movies and it gives me more time.

reply

To each his own, but October means Halloween, November is for Thanksgiving, and Christmas festivities begin the day after Thanksgiving which is when I start watching holiday movies.

reply

You're part of the problem. Just admit it.

reply

I admit it.

reply

That's the first step.

I don't know what the second step is.

reply

Too soon Bro.
This is like the 'Back to School' ads on the 4th Of July.

No.

reply

It's all Hallmark's fault!

reply

There is your problem - you watch Hallmark.

reply

The Hallmark Channel should be ashamed for airing "Christmas" programming during the middle of summer. I can't believe anyone would watch that stuff.

reply

No PVR!?

reply

No. I used to have one, but it kept acting up so I downgraded to a standard receiver, which doesn't have recording ability.

reply

i don't even see it for sale anywhere.

reply

Food Basics had it. I did a grocery order through Instacart.

reply

do they sell it all year round??

reply

I don't think so. I was pleasantly surprised that they had it in stock.

reply

I bought some apple cider donuts from Entlemann's at my local store because it's autumn. I love this time of the year (September thru October).
