Best, Worst, and most hated remakes.
Worst Remake....Clash of the Titans (2010)
shareThrow Psycho (1998) in for one of the least necessary.
The Fly (1986) and The Thing (1982) stand head and shoulders above the originals, not to mention Little Shop of Horrors.
The fly really, that was damn good.
shareI don't have a lot of strong feelings about movies but Clash is one of my top 5 movies, that remake made me want to hunt down the director and torture him.
shareIt was made at the peak of the 3D craze, and it switched out the gorgeous Harryhausen effects for rote CGI spectacle. The remake might have been a decent enough movie on its own had it not been a blatant piggyback on the original classic.
sharenone of that makes me feel better. Everything about this movie made me mad, and that takes a lot.
shareBest Remake:
The Magnificent Seven (2016)
I actually like the remake better than 1960 original.
So many remakes are bad I'm having a hard time picking the worst.
Actually, Worst Remake:
Point Break (2015)
What a crap fest that was.
Point Break remake took itself waaay too seriously. They sucked the fun & charm outta the movie
shareI haven't seen the original, but Vanilla Sky was one of my favorite movies. I assume the original doesn't have the wacky soundtrack, which was part of what made the movie for me.
shareI second Clash of the Titans (2010)
The original was one of my favorite films ever.
Best Remakes: John Carpenter's The Thing, True Grit, The Fly, Scarface, The Mummy 1999, Ocean's 11
Worst: The Fog 2005, Ben Hur, The Wicker man, Red Dawn, OldBoy 2013
Worst: Rear Window ( 1998 ) BAD as a remake, bad as a film on its own
Best: 12 Angry Men ( 1997 ) Pretty good as a remake, would be a good film on its own ( assuming it wasn't a remake )
I liked the remake of 3:10 to Yuma.
