β›ˆοΈ I'm lovin' it! β›ˆοΈ

We're finally getting some rain. This morning I woke up to thunder and pouring rain. Right now, another band of rain and thunder is passing through. It's not enough to get us out of our severe drought, but it sure is welcome. I guess you could call it a celebration because it has been months since we've had any significant rain. πŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I wish I was there. Its still so hot here. Every year I say I can't take it anymore. 97 yesterday. I think eventually I'll move to Vermont or New Hampshire.

reply

Interesting that summer is returning here for the weekend - highs in the mid- to upper 80s and muggy. I guess I can deal with a few more days of it.

reply

I live in Los Angeles and it hardly ever rains here and I haven't seen a thunderstorm in decades. But that's okay by me. I like sunny weather.

reply

I heard it never rains in Southern California

reply

πŸ€” Hmm, sounds like a good line for a song...🎡

reply

dude there were like 13 atmospheric rivers earlier this year. Mammoth was open until August.

reply

Mammoth is not in Los Angeles and it tends to rain more in the mountains. Sure, there have been some serious rainstorms this year but it still hardly rains in Los Angeles.

reply

We all heard a lot about the snow on Mt. Baldy this year... so I assume the LA Basin got more rain and storms than usual this year.

reply

Anything that isn't sunshine gets a thumbs up from me.

I'm glad you got some relief! Meanwhile, New York City was totally flooded today.

I saw that. Is it worse than Superstorm Sandy?

reply

I'm not there, but friends and family tell me it was not as bad as Sandy.

reply

I hate rain. If there's anything I hate more than rain... is 2 days of rain.

Signed, million man.

reply

Well, when you haven't had rain for months, it is nice to fall asleep to the sound of rain.

reply

If you want to fall asleep to the sound of rain, just download the sounds of the seasons and you can listen to it daily

reply

Nice thought, but nah. I prefer the real thing. Besides, it's fun when the thunder rattles the house. πŸ˜‰

Congratulations! I know it’s a relief, and we are still waiting in ours.

I’m 51 and this has been the hottest and driest summer here in Louisiana in my memory. I’ve been flooding the ground around my fruit trees for months, it’s been so bad.

reply

Our summer was the driest since 1988, and I was around for that one. Endless days of hot, muggy days. We had no air conditioning in the house, so I spent much of the summer sitting in front of a fan with a wet dishtowel around my neck. Before the next summer, we installed AC.

This summer we had a month's worth of muggy days in the 90s. Normal is about ten days during the entire summer. No central air in my current home, but last summer I bought a small window unit so at least I have some relief when it gets bad.

reply

Bit of a misty drizzle in the hills today.
