TV commercials are too icky these days

Today I was confronted with commercials about birth control that will give you a better period.

Underwear that hides sweat, period spills and more.

A razor commercial that showed an unattractive black woman shaving near her vagina in the shower (wearing underwear though)

A Huggies commercial that had a close up on a fat belly with an ugly outtie belly button popping out.

A drug commercial that spoke of side effects like bleeding and diarrhoea.

All this on a Saved By The Bell marathon.

It was too much. And it repeated every commercial break.

Why they gotta do this?

reply

That's weird, I was thinking about starting a thread about the same topic. I was was just waiting to compile enough examples, such as:

The Crohn's medication commercial with the woman sitting on a toilet everywhere she goes

Celebrity chef Aarón Sánchez applying deodorant to his gross hairy armpit

This one maybe be specific to me, but I hate extreme closeups of people's mouths, whether it's swishing mouthwash or shoving fast food into their gaping maws

reply

Yes, close ups don't work for me either.

All this on a Saved By The Bell marathon.

It's like, back to reality in your face.

reply

Yes! You enter a 90s world where people would never make a commercial like that. They might make a culturally inappropriate ad but I don't care 😁

reply

THE 90S ARE OVER...BETTER GET USED TO THE FUTURE OR YOU WILL GET LEFT BEHIND.

reply

The future is what we choose to make it.

reply

THAT WE YOU MENTION IS THE COLLECTIVE WE...AS IN SOCIETY.

Majority rule: Minority Report (2002) mixed with Borat (2006)

Majority rule is the principle that the group that has the most supporters gets its way. It is the binary decision rule most often used in decision-making bodies, including many legislatures of democratic nations. (wikipedia)

Lol, wishful thinking.

A drug commercial that spoke of side effects like bleeding and diarrhea.

❗❗SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE DEATH❗❗

I saw that on some allergy medication once.

Its like, thanks doc, but I think I'll take my chances and let this stuffy nose run its course.

reply

❗❗SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE DEATH❗❗

Yep, not really selling it to me, lol.

reply

My favorite is “do not take if allergic [to the product].” I know this is liability ass-covering by the pharma’s legal staff, but, SHEESH! “Do not take if death concerns you.”

reply

That one always makes me laugh.

You’ve seen it 1K times by now. Teeny school girl l with lip whiskers buys a Freddie Mercury-esque bright yellow jacket and “dances” in her homeroom, with her ‘stash. Whoopie! Problems: (1) no depilation, hence, *GAG*, (2) she can’t dance. Oh, she can MOVE. She looks like she’s having an Epiliptic fit. She is lithe and nimble. She is also pedestrian, uninspired and artistically clumsy. She reminds me of Adam Ants’ memorable fumbling around on the Grammy Awards long ago. And I am not kissing a girl with face whiskers. How about you?

Which Amazon somebody’s-brother-in-law do you think dreamed up this abortion?

I’ll lick your pussy, if you have 1 you were born with, but not your fuzzy mouth.

Commercials for wiping one’s butt are beneath contempt.

reply

i don't see these commercials. r kane is back.

reply

And ALL of MC rejoices:/

Also, why go X rated for no reason? Kane is a weirdo.

reply

i was hoping for a new r kane. as weird as ever.

“I’ll lick your pussy, if you have 1 you were born with”

Odd flex.

i was hoping for a new and improved r kane.

Buy your media. Escape the ads. The cost is worth it.

I just hate commercials in general. When I'm watching Youtube, I wait the 5 second countdown and hit the skip button as soon as I can. If I can't avoid the 15 second double commercials, I ignore (when stuck in the car) or mute (when at home).

When I used to watch tv with the family, we often saw shows that had commercials louder than the actual program, which annoyed the living daylights out of me, never mind what they were advertising. For some stupid reason, my parents would either be asleep with the remote in their hand (and sitting a distance away), or refuse to mute the commercials, or were too lazy and hypnotized to bother. So I often ended up with a remote that had the mute button so I could be spared having to listen to the commercials.

Whatever you do, DONT WATCH PLUTOtv. It's mostly AIDS meds and gay pride and tranny rights ads. Showing the very best minorities have to offer the world.
