I'm trying to understand the popularity of Taylor Swift.

I wonder what a Taylor Swift concert looks like, how many different segments of the population does she represent?-She started a little bit country but morphed into pop and
is a rare singer who seems to be liked by everyone. Does she have a sexual appeal in concerts? Do teenage girls admire her, do teen boys have her poster on the wall?

She's massively popular with women and girls, and part of the secret of her success is that she's been around long enough that her original fans are bringing their daughters to her massive concerts. And she's massively popular, I work in a small office and two different co-workers flew to LA with daughters to see her play whopping big stadiums!

I don't really get it, I guess she just tells women and girls what they want to hear.

Although I’m not in the correct demographic, I don’t mind her at all. She’s a great Pop artist that has a bunch of catchy tunes.

My 9 year old daughter really like her and I’ll probably take one for the team and take my wife and daughter to one of her gigs.

Because a lot of people aren't too Swift.

Most popular music is written for clueless proles. I listen to the crap blasting out of their speakers and just cringe.

Devo were the prophets. We're living their dystopian dream.

just buy a ticket to the show & shutup

Finally, I don't get her either. I totally understand that she's pretty and a fairly good singer. But I mostly see her as an "entertainer". There are lots of singers who just know how to entertain an audience without necessarily being very talented.

I never listen to her (or a lot of the current pop stars) voluntarily. But lately I 've been "forced" into it against my will. I work in a restaurant and before we open, there's a lot of prep work going on. One of the girls, college student, blasts Taylor Swift out of her phone. Drives me nuts!

When I was her age I used to enjoy catchy tunes with the insipid, crappy lyrics of pop tunes sung in reedy thin voice. But nowadays my old lady ears want to close up when I hear that stuff. When I go home after work, I have to "wash the pop" out of my ears. I usually play a Fifth Dimension CD, Creedence, The Temptations, or country singers like Mark Chesnutt or Brooks and Dunn. All singers who can really sing!

Do young guys pretend to like her music so they don't upset the ladies?
