😁 This is really weird. Spooky, even. Still! 😬

I stream through Roku. I have one Smart TV in my living room, and a dumb TV in my bedroom. A couple of weeks ago, somewhat late at night I was streaming a show in my bedroom when my Roku stopped streaming, stating that it was not connected. I tried to reconnect but got nowhere, and figured my internet went down. I decided to watch a DVD instead.

The next day, I discovered that my internet is fine, but the bedroom Roku still wouldn’t connect. I tried to re-set up a connection, but Roku couldn’t even find my network, or any network even though I can usually see 5 or 6 neighbors’ networks.

My next step was to swap the two Roku devices, but the other Roku won’t connect in the bedroom, either. Then I even went so far as to move the TV from the living room into the bedroom. Still no luck. I also tried moving my router from downstairs into the bedroom, but that didn’t work either. Oh, and Smartcast doesn't work, either. I’ve run out of ideas to fix this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you plead with it asking for it to work again? I find desperation works sometimes.

reply

usually the master reset button works turn off for at least 1 hour

reply

The reset button on what?

It almost feels like there's a renegade force field in my bedroom that is blocking the Wi-Fi signal, but it's weird because it was working fine before it decided to stop working.

reply

Reset router? Oh nvm you moved it so you unplugged it.

reply

I'm going to guess he means on the Roku??

reply

Wonder if the router is taking a shit. No clue what Freddy meant. Is there anything new in the room that could be blocking the signal?

Signed, million man.

reply

I thought about that, but my other TV/Roku in the living room works fine, as does my laptop. My router is fairly new - about two years old at most.

Like I said, weird.

reply

The signal from the router might be weaker than it used to be. It could be the roku going bad. Or it could be ghosts. đŸ‘»

reply

The living room is farther away from the router than the bedroom is. And the fact that I even relocated the router to my bedroom and it still didn't work, leads me at this point to go with đŸ‘»đŸ‘»

Unplug the roku for a day or two and try again?

Signed, million man.

reply

It has been unplugged for at least a couple of weeks. Since it's not working, I figured why waste electricity on it.

I have pushed the reset button on the Roku and will wait an hour or so and see if anything changes.

There's also the issue of the other Roku/TV not working in the bedroom either. That's what has me so puzzled.

reply

OK I have no clue. I'll shut up now. 😉

It's been fun...

Not really, but at least you've tried.

'it was working fine before it decided to stop working.'

I find that true of a lot of things.

reply

You're not wrong!

Some electrical outlets in bedrooms are off unless a light switch wall button is turned on. Maybe the Roku in the bedroom is plugged into such an outlet. Plug it into a different outlet. Maybe use an extension cord if needed.

reply

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not that.

reply

i have roku and firestick and never have any issues with roku. i compare it to cable because it's so reliable. firestick needs to be constantly rebooted.

reply

I think there's something more sinister going on here.

reply

Ask your neighbors if they're having any problems.
That is really strange though. I have the same setup Roku box in the living room, Roku stick in the bedroom. They both work on the same router so I see what you're saying...confusing.

reply

1. Get a new TV.
2. Get a new Roku.
3. Get a new house.

I’m out of suggestions after that (‘Helpful’ Andy).

reply

How old is your dumb TV? Is it compatible to Roku software? Was there a recent update with Roku which would make it incompatible?
