Do you think people who brag about their life on social media tend to be depressed or have issues?

Like an overcompensation type thing?

I think they’re just idiots.

I wouldn’t know. I was busy on my 80 foot sailboat all day eating lobster tails, steak and my three supermodel girlfriend’s titties.

I’ll get back to you when I can though, I’m purchasing my third Lamborghini in the morning, I may be busy.

No, they're either what's called "other-directed" personalities, who care too much concerned about what other people think, or they're faking it all because they think they can be lifestyle stars and quit their jobs.

Of they just want to one-up their friends and relatives, because they don't really like their friends and relatives.

Aren't a lot of them trying to be influencers and make money from being on social media? It's like all these writers who just write crap opinion pieces and stories because they hope someone will buy the article but overall they spend paragraphs driveling about nothing.

Aside from the obvious monetary gain, a lot of people seek validation from external sources and don't feel like they can achieve that validation without embellishing or outright lying. From experience, I know a lot of people on social media that are still living life like they're trying to impress their high school friends/get revenge on their high school enemies by showing off some impressive lie. Are they depressed? Possibly. Do they have issues? Probably - if you're going out of your way to impress strangers, let alone people you do know, you likely have issues.
