Does prison ACTUALLY redeem any criminals no matter how big or small?

Does penitentiary legal system WORK and also...

Yes we are told especially today we MUST report certain criminals to the police. And in many cases, it IS seen as an unfair tragedy and utter injustice if they get away even with them say maybe SOME of them not offending again, although in this life, it is impossible to know for sure.

But once they do get there and serve their sentence, have they redeemed themselves and also, can they be welcome back in society and the world and should they?

60 Days is a show, sounds a bit like "60 Minutes".

i sometimes would watch the marathon's of the show on Court TV. it shows the good & bad of the prisons

Does the good REALLY work though?

Interestingly enough, controversial late French philosopher Michel Foucault has also explored such a subject in one of his books.

60 Days In is about a County Jail though. Jail is NOTHING like prison.

Some do get reformed. Look at Charles S. Dutton & Danny Trejo.

No details here, but... I know someone who was actually straightened out by prison.

They got into trouble when young due to substance abuse, were sent to prison, and when they got out they sobered up, finished school, started a new career, got married, and had a family. So, it's happened once.

That’s because the trouble stemmed from the substance abuse. Once the substance stopped being took the urge to do the crime was gone.

That's not actually how things happened, there were enemies made due to the substance abuse, but since this isn't my story to tell I'm not free to give details.

We need to stop looking at it as trying to rehabilitate them.
They are who they are. People rarely change.

We just need to look at it as a punishment. They get some time. They do it. Then they get out.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

It encourages some inmates to redeem themselves, but not all. Some end up coming back after a while, others are stuck there for life, depending on the person.
