What have Americans got against Universal Health Care

What are the cons?

Keep it in Politics.

A huge amount of money floods into the "health care" black hole and I think it is largely an outrageous scam. Who knows to what level the corruption of the "sickness industry" has descended. Do they perpetuate illnesses they know how to treat or cure because it's good for business ? Do they oppose Euthanasia because it would be bad for business ?

If it were up to me I would make all health services user pays and ban Insurance Companies and the Government from having anything to do with it. That would fix their little red wagon. After all in years gone by people spent bugger all on health and sure the mortality was much higher back then but with the improvements to sanitation and so on I think people would do much better these days. And they may well find out that a "gold standard" health system is to a large extent a waste of money.

There are myriad reasons but I'll focus on one. In places like Canada, UK, Germany, Australia, universal health care represents a 20-25% increase in federal income tax. I already pay at least 25% of my income in federal income tax. I'm also self employed, so I pay all of my health insurance and it's expensive but it's a metric fuckton less than 20% of my income.

It only benefits those who pay the least.....if any.

I keep getting the sense it's because they are worried it won't be fair in some way or that people will abuse it and it will make everything else cost more?

I'm in Australia, some people do abuse it although we also have a Private Healthcare option you can pay for.

Universal Healthcare doesn't necessarily mean anything is perfect or even high quality service though. Some hospitals lack staff and people, even cancer patients get denied treatment at times. That has more to do with poor management of the system and a lack of education options to study the big subjects like medicine too. University was once free in Australia until the early 1990's.

They’ve been fed propaganda by the greedy healthcare corporations and their army of lobbyists.

The major con is that I ain't payin no taxes fer no marshins or other space aliens. They can get their own damn health care. Let's keep it confined to this planet at least.

I would say because it's the land of the free, home of the brave. Free from government, brave to thrive without it

For me it's because whether any leftist on here agrees with it or not, the U.S government doesn't have any money. It has debt and that debt will be way too high if we spend trillions of dollars on universal healthcare. If we did get it, the economy would fall hard and we'd end up in a situation worse than the Grwat Depression.
