I Want Remakes For These Movies

I know most people hate remakes, but I think they're great, so sue me.

-Jeremiah Johnson
-The Bounty
-Congo
-Apocalypse Now
-Jaws
-Captain Horatio Hornblower
-Eraserhead

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of.

reply

Definitely not Apocalypse Now, Jaws, or Eraserhead. Maybe the others would be okay.

-The Bounty
I think the existing one still stand up well.

-Apocalypse Now
A boring and overly long film. It could be interesting to see it done with a tighter storyline and short length.

-Jaws
Only if the shark is black and transexual.

-Captain Horatio Hornblower
There was a TV series from the late 90's if you want something newer.

reply

The filming of Apocalypse now was a clusterfuck with so many problems during production. There's a documentary about it called "Heart of Darkness: A Filmmakers Apocalypse."

I've heard about the Hornblower tv series, but haven't watched it yet. I'm guessing I'll either need to subscribe to some kind of British streaming service or buy the DVD's. The books by CS Forester are excellent as well.

You can get some on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CtzqIPLEy4

Yeah I have heard about the production problems on Apocalypse Now, I think Marlon Brando liked to ad lib a lot which added to the nonsensical plot.

No, just no.

Logan's Run and Zardoz. The originals are so cheesy looking and the special effects were not special.

reply

Logans Run would be great for a remake.

I remember seeing it for the 1st time in 7th grade. We were all excited for the titties.

reply

I want a remake for Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.

Great concept. Poorly executed. Instead, they stupidly keep remaking the Michael Myers Halloween films.

reply

Haven’t seen any of the original ones,

Probably it’s because horror is not much my thing but yeah a good remake can get older films new fans.

Now I want the age of innocence again but with the ending changed, maybe in the remake Newland goes up to see the countess and they have their happy ending Scorsese didn’t give them.

Has anyone read the book?
Does it have a better ending ?

Some films I'd like to see remade

Firefox
Brewster's Millions (now billions)
Highlander (original)
The Gauntlet

reply

I'm not a big fan of remakes. I simply don't see much point in that.

reply

They're hit or miss, usually miss, but are sometimes good.

A few off the top of my head are Scarface, 3:10 to Yuma and The Mummy.
