Musicians who supported lockdowns

So this will be a simple thread, if you know of any musicians who supported lockdowns and the vaxx list them here.

I'll start with Dexter Holland of The Offspring. Man was this one disappointing. I fuckin loved The Offspring when I was a kid!

reply

Pretty anti-punk of ol' Dex.

Stupid thread

Feel free to show yourself out.

I was going to say Gene Simmons but then I remembered you said "musicians".

You Leave KISS alone you bully😤

Is it bullying if it's the truth?

Dexter Holland has a PhD in Microbiology. He's studied at the Laboratory of Viral Oncology and Proteomics Research, Keck School of Medicine. It's really confounding that you are disappointed that someone who has actually studied viruses, would support a lockdown and a vaccination during a global pandemic.

reply

Dr. Josef Mengele had a cum laude doctorate in medicine and a PhD in anthropology, how serious should I take that guy?

But the real point is, there are those with a similar background as Mr. Holland who argued against a lockdown and vaccination. I'm sure both sides were "disappointed" with the views of the other.

reply

When it comes to a global pandemic, I wouldn't take Mengele seriously at all as that wasn't his area of expertise.

As for those with similar backgrounds as Mr. Holland who had different views, that's great. I'm not saying who is right or wrong here, I'm saying that Dexter/Bryan Holland wasn't coming to his decision to support a lockdown and a vaccine as just a musician, so I'm going to take his opinion a little more seriously than someone like Vanilla Ice.

reply

Hmm, well, obviously my point wasn't that Mengele was an expert on global pandemics. But I guess I'll take his opinions regarding his areas of expertise more seriously from now on, even if I do find them somewhat disappointing.

reply

I wasn't sure what your point was when you brought up Mengele.

reply

That even scientists can be full of shit.

reply

Perhaps. But the topic here was musicians who supported lockdowns, and the OP mentioned Dexter Holland. So I think pointing out that Holland has a PhD in Microbiology, and actually studies viruses, was an important distinction to make.

reply

In fact, I would say the OP is being quite dishonest by not stating Holland’s credentials from the beginning.

reply

But is it really that confounding? Maybe it's exactly those credentials that make it more disappointing that he supported the lockdown and vaccination.🤷‍♀️

reply

96% of doctors in the us got fully vaccinated. i guess they are all stupid.

reply

I imagine the Foo Fighters did.

Or what's left of them.

reply

I'm sure Greenday did. Leftist Billie Joe Armstrong probably sleeps with a mask on.

reply

I think Queen was very supportive of prevention measures and vaccinations. Which makes sense, seeing as they have an actual scientist with a PhD in hard science on board.

At one point Brian May called Eric Clapton a "fruitcake" for being an anti-vax nutter, and I thought there was going to be a big catfight! I was disappointed when there wasn't.
